I was pushed through the streets, nobody noticed because this happens every week. We arrived at the palace and the guards opened the door. The guards set me in a chair at the bottom of the stairs and headed to the kings office. After a while they came back out and said I could go in. I walked up the stairs and knocked on the door.
"Please enter, Ms. Carmine." I heard bluntly from the other side of the large wooden door.
I opened the door slightly and peered inside, before stepping inside fully.
"Ah! Ms. Carmine. Such a pleasure to see you." He stood from his chair and walked over to me. He took my hand and kissed it.
"Your majesty." I curtseyed.
"Please, sit. I'll just be a moment." He smiled at me, returning to his desk and sitting down.
I sat in a chair across the desk and looked around.
"Don't act like you haven't been in here before, Elizabeth." He smirked, eyeing me.
"I have never had the oppurtunity to look around, It's quite lovely in here, as is the rest of the palace." I smiled.
"Thank you, Ms. Carmine." He smiled, still looking down at his work.
He signed his final paper and turned his attention to me.
"So, Ms. Carmine. I hear that you bought some bread this morning, and you actually paid for it. Am I correct?"
I nodded.
"How did you purchase this bread? You aren'y selling you body on the streets are you?" He smirked at me.
"No! Your majesty." I exclaimed.
"Then what are you doing?"He asked, placing his hands on the arms of my chair and leaning into my face.
"I am working at the tavern, as a cook." I said mousely.
"That's great Elizabeth!" He cried.
"Thank you." I still had my head down, but I smiled.
He place his fingertips on my chin and lifted my head to meet his gaze.
"You're making progress, that's amazing. I expect to have no problems with you anymore." He smiled.
"Alright." I sighed.
"Do you need anything else?" He asked.
"How is my borther doing here?" My brother Sam works at the palace as a butler, He started working there a couple of years ago, I always ask about him when I'm here.
"He's doing quite well, he says hello. He should be home tonight." He said, walking over to his bookshelf, taking a book and looking through it.
"Great! Thank you, your majesty." I smiled. I don't see my brother very often, he normally stays so late that he just sleeps in the servants quarters at the palace. It is very exciting when he comes home.
"Your welcome, I think we are done here Ms. Carmine, you may go." He looked at me and then back at his book.
"Thank you, have a good day your majesty." I stood and curtseyed.
