I screamed as I fell into the shadows, being swallowed into the darkness. The particles of black air replaced my every cell until I was just a moving mass of shades in the shape of a body. My yells continued as I endlessly fell. A long moment passed...
A scene slowly began to form around me and the feeling of falling disappated. White floors and ceilings, walls made completely of glass. It reflected my entire appearance in every direction. My eyes opened to reveal pure ice blue orbs; the color that had previously only been my irises now consumed my entire eye. It was in stark contrast with the deep black of my skin. Beyond the glass was a room I immediately recognized. Angel's bedroom, almost too bright to bear. I made out the usual surroundings. The dark blue bed with its perfectly white pillows, the purple bean bag in the corner, the messy desk by the door... it was all a little off somehow. My eyes adjusted to the brightness and I realized; there was a man standing in the corner. There was a black ski mask pulled over his face, and his entire body was cloaked in black. An aura of calmness surrounded him.
Slowly, the sounds that accompanied the scene came to meet my ears. A car pulling up outside, muffled by the rustle of leaves from the oak tree outside his window. Shifting from the man. The front door opening downstairs, followed by Angel's voice almost silently greeting his dad's. His father ignored him as usual. Abusive dick. A spike of anger came from my gut. I drifted toward the glass and layed my hands against it.
The man pushed himself harder against the wall by the door and seemed to completely blend in with it until I couldn't see him anymore. A hint of the terrible reality dawned on me. But something stopped me from thinking past the first few seconds.
The bedroom door opened and Angel walked in, pushing it shut behind him. His backpack just hit the ground at the foot of his bed when it happened.
The man separated from the wall, instantly stepping behind Angel. He put a gloved hand over his mouth, pulling him to his chest. I pressed my hands against the glass, wondering how to get past it. How to get out of here and get to him. I slammed my fists against it. "Don't touch him!" I yelled.
The entire world shifted so my little cage was in front of Angel. His grey green eyes were filled with terror as a sharp blade pressed into his neck. I pounded harder, but the glass wouldn't break. "I'm going to move my hand. You make any sound other than answers to my questions you won't have a working throat. Got it?" A long second passed. Then a minuscule nod came from Angel. As he'd said, his hand dropped from his mouth. I saw that Angel's eyes had hardened. They no longer showed any fear; so he'd put up a barrier. He was good at that.
I yelled out again, kicking the wall. All I got was a hurting foot. "Get the fuck away from him!" I screamed.
Surprising me, the man met my eyes and put a finger to his lips. Words, as though he was talking to me instead of just staring, ran through my head. 'Stop. He might hear you. Then I'll HAVE to kill him. I'm sure you don't want that.' I stood in shocked silence as he began to talk out loud. "First question. What is your full name?"
"Angel Lecoxe." He answered after a long moment. I didn't think he would've answered all if the guy hadn't pushed the knife harder into his neck. "Ok." He went on quietly. "You can call me Jason. Anyone asks you anything, I'm your friend Jason who's driving you to see your cousin Liz in Florida. Got it?" Another moment. "Fine. Yeah. I got it. "
"Ok. Second question. Where's your boyfriend?" He stiffened. His mouth fell open a bit as he tried to find words. "Why?' The word was limited.
Jason swung him around in one swift move and threw him on the bed. Then he kneeled over top of him, pulling up his sleeve and pressing the blade to his arm before pulling it across. Angel gasped, and I could see the bad memories flooding back to him. I pushed against the glass harder. He couldn't make him relive that. That'd been his own personal hell. "Because I wanna know. " he whispered. "Now where is he." Angel's eye twitched. "I don't know... why the hell does it matter? What do you want with him?" Jason's free hand clenched into a fist. "Nothing you need to know about. "
I finally ran out of strength, and fell to my knees in front of the glass. "Now come on. " he muttered, pulling Angel to his feet roughly. He hid his bleeding arm against his side. "You're dad won't care. And if he does.... well I need a snack anyway. " Angel's brow furrowed in confusion but his expression quickly turned to pained as Jason wrenched him forward and opened the door. He pushed him out unceromouniously.
