Ringggggg!

The last bell of the day rang and all of the kids rushed to their lockers so that they could leave. I had everything I needed, so I went ahead and pushed passed everybody in the hall and out the doors. Reed always dropped me off at home, so I just leaned against the wall and waited for him. Thats when I saw him backing out of a parking spot. He always drove up to let me in the car, but I got worried when he didn't slow down or stop. I dropped my books and bag and raced up to the car. Luckily, the window was down.

"Reed, where the hell are you going?!" I yelled through the window. He didn't even flinch or look my way. He just kept driving. Thats when I felt the tears about to come on. The last of the kids were getting into their cars and driving off. I ran back over to my books and leaned against the wall, except this time I was on the ground, crying into my knees. Reed had practically dumped me as a friend, and for no reason at all.

"Are you okay?" I heard a familliar voice above me. I looked up to see Preston. I wanted to freak out about how I looked. If my eyes were puffy, if my nose was red. How was my hair? Was my makeup smeared? No, I just started talking to him through tears. "No....It's just......Left me....." I cried.

"Who left you?" He asked sitting down next to me.

"My best friend. Reed. After lunch he practicaly ignored me, and didn't even care. He always drove me home in the afternoons, but today he drove straight past me." I sniffled, look up at Preston.

"Hey, I don't know if this helps anything, but I can drive you home." He smiled. I gave a weak smile back. He got up off the ground and extended his arm out to me. I put my hands in his, and automaticly blushed. I grabbed my binder and my two text books, but Preston took them from me. "Trust me. You're too weak right now to carry this to the car." He smiled back at me.

"Well, uh, thanks for the ride." I smiled, getting out of the car with my books.

"Are you parents home or anything?" He asked. I wanted to just burst out crying again, but I lied.

"Yeah. They're probably making dinner." I smiled weakly. He backed out of my driveway and drove off. I quickly unlocked the front door and through all my books on the dining room table. I didn't have the heart to tell Preston that my parents died when I was 7 and I'd been living alone since then. The only person who knew that was Reed.

Oh god, Reed. He probably still hated me. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed Reed.

"Hello?" I heard a voice. It wasn't Reed, it was a girl. Probably his sister.

"Hey. Is Reed there?" I asked, feeling like the tears were welling up in my eyes again.

"Yeah. This is his sister, by the way." She said through the phone. His sister was about 12.

"Could I talk to him?" I asked, wanting to just talk to Reed.

"Well, he called you a bad name and said he was mad at you." She spoke through the phone. I knew Reed joked around about that, but I guess this time he was serious.

"Oh, and we're moving. Like, to Tennesse." She said lastly.

"Wh-what?"

"Yeah. We're -"

"Mary! What the hell are you doing on my phone!?" I heard Reed yell in the background.

"I have to go!" She whispered loudly.

"No, wait! Just let me talk to-" The phone call ended.

Now I really had to talk to Reed.
