Dates were most definitely a tricky thing to do when you both had full time jobs looking after velociraptors in the exhausting Costa Rican sun and two stubborn friends that never seemed to be able to sort out their own problems. However, one day, Owen was adamant on taking me on a date, a proper first date.

"Come on babe, you really don't have to." I reassured him, "we have had so many unofficial dates, and there was the party." It was very early in the morning on a Friday and I was standing above him whilst he worked on his motorbike in the early dregs of sunlight, as per usual.

"Eating out of Styrofoam cartons or in the employee canteen is not a date." he scoffed, "and as for the party! Do you mean the party where we fucked on the porch and then Zach kissed you and I ended up carrying you over my shoulder all the way home?" I giggled slightly at the memory and Owen glared and stood up, brushing himself off. I pouted and wrapped my arms around his waist.

"Oh come on babe, I really have nothing to wear." I complained.

"Is that what you're worrying about? You could wear a bin bag and I'd still get a hard on." he said bluntly and I pulled away, rolling my eyes.

"Well I don't want to wear a bin bag." I folded my arms across my chest.

"Go shopping with Claire or something. Whatever shit girls do." Owen brushed it off and carried on fixing his motorbike.

"Well how long do I have?" I asked him.

"We're going out tomorrow night at seven, so go today?" Owen said and I remembered we finished early on a Friday.

"I guess I better call Claire." I sighed and Owen agreed, ignoring my presence altogether now. I dialled the number and waited for her to answer.

"...Hello?" someone said quite breathlessly.

"Claire? Are you okay?" I asked with a laugh.

"Erm... Yes, I'm fine." she said between giggles. I could hear a low voice talking in the background and I pulled a disgusted face at the phone.

"Gross, I know what you two are doing." I groaned.

"Look, I can talk now, what is it?" she said, speaking a little clearer now.

"Raptor man is taking me on a date. I need a new outfit." I said quickly and precisely.

"I've got it covered, don't worry." she said and literally hung up before arranging to meet me when I finished at midday. I put my phone in my back pocket and turned back to Owen.

"Right, well I'm going to hand this report in to Mr Masrani, grab breakfast and then head to the paddock." I told Owen, kissing him on the cheek afterwards.

"Save me a bagel." he called after me as I had already started walking away.

"You'll be lucky!"

"Claire, please, that is terrible." I grimaced as Claire pulled out another disgusting dress. We were in Forever 21 after taking Mr Masrani's helicopter to the mainland.

"Come on Rosie, you have to pick something." she sighed. I was deliberating and Claire wandered off to browse at the sunglasses.

"I haven't been over to the mainland in months." she wondered out loud.

"I'm a mainland virgin." I joked and made my way to yet another rack of dresses. I lazily skimmed over them, before something caught my eye. It was simple and white, which meant it wouldn't catch the sun too much. It was a long sleeved white crop top with a matching white skirt that hugged your body. I knew the white would compliment my now tanned Central American skin.
