John's POV
I should probably head to the hospital, but feel that Kobe didn't want my face to be the first thing he saw when I woke up.
I paddled back to camp, unsure of what to do and what just happened.
Why did he even attack me in the first place?! What the heck?! He attacked me! All because I was kissing Pocahontas? I got the fact that he didn't like me, but was beating me up really necessary? In the end, it's not his choice anyway. Pocahontas is a big girl and can choose for herself. But for some reason, I felt like there was another story to Kobe's actions.
But thinking about Kobe was difficult to do when I was thinking about Thomas. He could've killed him. I knew he could. I get that we are close, but he couldn't do stuff like that. As much as he has grown, he still acts irrationally and doesn't know how to take care of me let alone himself. He can't just do spontaneous acts like that. I mean, Thomas, thank you and everything but in the process you got us into even more trouble than we started with.
Once I docked my kayak, Pocahontas' dad met me on shore, a few people trailing behind him.
"Who are you and why do you have my kayak? Where is my daughter? Where is Kobe?"
I took a deep breath. "There was a slight issue-"
"What kind of an issue?" He growled through clenched teeth, scanning over the cuts on my forehead.
I took a deep breath. "We got in a fight, one thing led to another and Pocahontas is bringing Kobe to the hospital."
His eyes grew wide. "What?!" He turned and started talking frantically with the people behind him, their faces covered in fear and worry.
"I'm really sorry," I glanced down at my watch, knowing that I was going to have to find Thomas before curfew. "I really am and I hope that Kobe gets better but I have to go-"
"Oh no you're not." Mr. Nairobi turned to face me. "You're staying here until the police come."
I choked. "What? But I didn't do anything!"
"You attacked someone on my property so you bet your lucky stars I'm going to sue!"
My stomach dropped. "But he came at me first-"
"Tell it to the judge." He growled. "Take him back to the house and don't let him leave." He said to the other people.
"But..." I didn't know what to say as one took my arm roughly and led me up to the main house, their grip on me like iron.
This could seriously not be happening.
How could I have been so stupid? I should've kayaked to New Jersey. I should've walked back to the motel. I don't know why I thought it would be smart to tell Mr. Nairobi that I had beat up one of his employees, not a good idea.
Sitting in that living room was really awkward all alone, especially when you heard people talking about you in the kitchen next door.
"I don't get why we can't just call the cops to take him now," One of the guys groaned. "why do we have to wait for Nairobi to get home?"
