Cold was the October night that Callie met him. He came over and talked to her outside while he drank a beer and took a long drag on his cigarette, making sure not too get it in Callie's face. Never in a thousand years did Callie think that it could end like this, but it did. Tears and gunfire and a moving van. Callie had barely a chance to wrap her mind around all the things that just happened and now she has to get over her first boyfriend and her friend Amanda and cut ties with almost everyone she met.
Let's start over. Once Callie met Collin it was basically done for. Callie had fallen for him. He and his roommate would stay up late and bump music until the late am of the morning. It always bugged Callie, mainly because she had a young child right next door to the loud and very inappropriately rap songs.
The other thing is Callie had though she seen him before. So any chance she get to see him she stare at him trying to remember where she saw him. Then one night in October, He finally knocked on the door and asked to talk to her. Callie told her roommate "If I'm not back in 30 come find me." They laughed it off.
Little did they know, that that warning she gave her roommate was something to not be laughed about. It was all nice and sweet during the day they listened to music and even had a few laughs. He mainly drank beer but never around the baby. He always hid it from the baby he didnt want her getting into it if he left the room. He talked about how much Callie's daughter reminded him of his niece that died from SIDS.
Callie felt bad that he saw that in her child. Callie always asked him if he was sure that it was okay that the baby was there. He always said the same thing "It's refreshing to see the resemblance to her. I can tell you love that little girl. She is always welcome to come over." It made Callie feel nice that he had an interest in her as well as her child.
He come out side and smoke a cigarette with Callie and even helped her daughter start writing the ABC's. Callie soon began to have bigger feelings for him but pushed them away. He'd text her asking when she was going to come over and do stuff with him. Callie always had an excuse for why she couldn't. She made him wait two weeks before they did anything. The first time Callie's best friend Ava was there.
Ava and Callie had the same past and even the same type of stories when it came to guys. Only difference? Callie is a lesbian and Ava is straight. So, all this is very new to Callie. Never having a boyfriend never having kissed a guy before that night, Callie was beyond nervous.
Callie saw Ava pull up and jumped out the door to meet her and hug her. She introduced Ava to Collin, and they all sat back down. Collin starting in on his fifth beer, apologized ahead of time if he seemed like a drunk, "I'm not a drunk. I just get depressed and decide to drink every now and again." Collin said.
Ava replied "It's okay. I and Cal both have battled it. We get it. You do you." He nodded and smiled and then finished his fifth beer. Making it into an ashtray as they all went outside to smoke. They sat on the porch, and all talked and laughed. Even thought about having Ava stay the night over there with them.
Ava asked the big question "So Cal have y'all kissed or anything yet?" Collin choked on his freshly open beer. "Really is this what girls talk about for real? Should I be taking notes on this?" They laughed and then Callie and Ava nodded yes. Collin rolled his eyes and left to the bedroom.
"No, we haven't kissed or anything yet. It's only been two weeks babe. I want to take it slow." Callie said back. "Well, we can take it slow Cal. I'm not going to pressure you or anything like that dear." Collin yelled from the room, making the girls laugh. Callie went back to the room with him and say on the bed.
"I need to change my pants." Callie said knowing that he was going to say the same thing he always says. "Why don't you keep them off babe?" Collin asked coming up behind her and hugging Callie. "You know I want to wait." Callie says laughing. "Come on I've been waiting for two weeks" Collin started to fake cry as Ava yelled out "And you can wait two more!" They all cracked up. Once Callie finally got changed and redressed, Collin sat on the bed and pulled Callie on top of him.
