"Sir, are you sure that it is fine to Escort us until we reach the dorm?" Sophie politely asked as she sit next to me in the back seat of Mr. Norton's car, completely stiff.Earlier we were devastated by the fact that we must climb up unto the mountanish road towards the dorm of the school. Of course, were tired and our feet hurts especially because of the sun. We are more of cold temperate lovers than hot after all. But we prefer the most the not too hot and not too cold.
So feeling our distress, Mr. Norton offered to bring us at least until the entrance of the Dorm. Sophie was unwilling but she did not let it show in her face, I saw through her mask but I do not know if Mr. Norton also did. If he did, he did a great job at not letting us see and acting like it is nothing.
"Yes, I am." He responded as he put the key in the key hole and started the engine. "Put your seat belts on."
I already put mine earlier so I just raised my hand showing him an 'okay sign' when I saw him glanced at the mirror in the front. I turned to Sophie finding her pouting, probably because the one driving is Mr. Norton.
"Miss Cadwell, please put your seatbelts on." Mr. Norton requested leaving Sophie no choice but to obey... only to remove it afterwards when Mr. Norton wasn't looking.
The road trip was silent. The usually ignored chirping of cicadas were heard by us, I tapped my fingers randomly but not strong enough to create unnecessary sounds. That was so boring so I just put my earphones on and played some random song.
There's A Place In
Your Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place Could
Be Much
Brighter Than Tomorrow
And If You Really Try
You'll Find There's No Need
To Cry
In This Place You'll Feel
There's No Hurt Or Sorrow
The road was not bumpy but all of sudden, Mr. Norton pushed the break causing us to fall a little forward. Thank you very much Mr. George Cayley for inventing the first seat belts! I was able to avoid face planting with the headboard like Sophie and that's a perfect reason as to why we should put on our seat belts. For Safety.
"Ow!" Sophie rubbed her nose gently, her eyes somewhat watery. That looks like it hurt.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah..." She answered but added later, "I think."
"What happened?" I asked Mr. Norton, who was somewhat pale.
"A cat suddenly jumped out of nowhere..." He muttered, he pulled the lever, removed his seat belt and opened the car's door. I followed his suit and so do Sophie. "It's black..."
There Are Ways
To Get There
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
Make A Better Place..."Isn't that bad luck?" Sophie bit her lips. She's kind of superstitious person, and believe in things like that. Well, black cat symbolizes bad luck. "I wonder if there will be something bad that will happen..."
"There's no such thing." I waved it off. '
Mr. Norton looked around, kneeing down in front of his car. I wanted to go down too but I might get in they way so I just stayed right there.
"Ming, ming, ming, ming" He called, "Ming, ming, ming, ming."
It lasted for two minutes until a silhouette appeared and it revealed a cute looking cat. She's (I am thinking it might be a female) a chubby cat with long hair somewhat identical to a Persian cat.
"Soo cute!" Sophie cooed, I almost forgot that she's a cat lover as well. It seems that she forgot what had just happened earlier, I am not sure whether it was a good thing but I just shrugged it off. "Is it a stray? Are you hurt kitty cat?"
"There's a choker..." I noticed, it was colored black like her fur so it's not so noticeable.
"Eh? Where? Where?" Sophie questioned picking up the cat who was purring at the feet of Mr. Norton, the cat hissed at the unfamiliar hand and the struggled to the point of scratching Sophie's face. That got to be hurt, I cringed as I saw Sophie's forced smile and tears that is slowly gathering in her eyes.
"I-I'm o-okay" She choked out as tears managed to slide down from her eyes. Liar. "I-I'm not hurt at all" She loves animals... but it seems that animals do not like her much. That's the part I feel sympathtic for and the fact that she just got scratched.
I am not of a social person and I don't know how to comfort someone so I just went beside her and patted her head. Have I said that she's a crybaby sometimes? She, then, burst out crying and turned to face me, hugged me and put her head in my shoulder.
"I'm sorry about that, Nue... doesn't like strangers" Mr. Norton looked apologetic as the cat is in his hand still hissing at Sophie.
"Nue?"
"Nue is the name of this cat."
Nue, the cat who scratched Sophie's face stared at me, I stared back.
"Um... Shouldn't we go to the clinic?" Mr. Norton asked breaking our staring showdown. I looked at Sophie only to find out that her face is bleeding. I agreed and so we headed off to the dorm, with the cat in the passenger's seat beside Mr. Norton. I lent Sophie my handkerchief and tended her scratches until we got to the dorm.
