"College..college..college, you never fail to find a way to screw me over" I laughed as I looked at my abundance of homework.

"Shut up Melody! Your not the one who's grades are going down the drain" my bestie Bree joked.

You see, Bree and I were never popular in high school or in college, now. We aren't nerds or anything but we just blend in. Both of us go to college in Athlone Ireland. I moved here when I was 17 and Bree and I automatically became great friends so here we are now, in our second year of college. Oh yea and did I mention that I have only been in one relationship in the four years I've lived here? Well I am now, and he cheated on me. We were together for three years before he did though, and since then I have been turning lots of guys down. I just don't want to be in a relationship right now.

"Yea yea, well maybe your grades would be better if you studied instead of partied" I said putting my homework back in my bag.

"Weeell I want to have a social life outside of school and I want boyfriend sooooooooo studying can kiss my ass"

I laughed as we walked to our next class, science. My favorite.
I walked in and sat down next to Bree. In the middle of the lesson a guy walked in late. I don't know his name but he is very popular because, I have to admit, he is really hot. Every girl wants to date him and every guy wants to be him, but I don't really have a crush on him cause I don't know him enough. And what's the point of a stupid, hopeless crush anyways?

"Mcloughlin. Excuse?" Ms. Black said without looking up from her computer, like she already knew it was him.

"I don't have one" he said while still standing in front of the class. So his last name is mcloughlin I'm guessing.

"Just sit down then" Ms. Black said shaking her head and looking at the computer.

The only seat left was next to me, so that's where he sat. He was staring at my paper. "What?" I whispered.

"Thats wrong" he said pointing at my name.

"Nope, that's my last name"

"Well, it should be McLoughlin"

I looked down and laughed.

"Hayes! What's so funny? Would you like to share it with everyone?" Ms. Black said looking at me.

"Well no..."

"Then be quiet"

I rolled my eyes and looked at... Uh McLoughlin... and smiled. "see you got me in trouble" I said and playfully punched him in the arm.

He over exaggerated and fell out of his chair.

"Mcloughlin!" Ms. Black yelled looking up from her computer.

He stood up and rubbed his arm. "She punched me!" He pointed at me.

Ms. Black rolled her eyes "sit down"

He sat back down and smiled at me. He has a great smile. I smiled at him and mouthed, 'what the hell'.

He laughed and then the bell rang.

He stood up and held his hand out as if for me to shake it "I'm Sean, but you can call me Jack"

I shook it "I'm Melody"

"Well Melody, that punch really hurt so Im going to have to sue you"

"What" I laughed

"Orrrrr you could go on a date with me, your choice, but I would definitely choose a date with me." He laughed too

Uhh I don't really know what to say. It just came out "yea sure!"

"Awesome, what's your number?"

I told him and he put it in his phone and dialed it.
I answered "hi Jack"
"Hi beautiful Melody" he smiled at me.
Then Bree stood up and tapped my shoulder "Mel... He's right in front of you, why are you guys on the phone".

I kept looking at Jack as I hung up " well Jack I have to go, I'll talk to you later?"

"Yup, see ya later" he said and he walked out.

I turned around to see Bree smiling really big. "What" I asked

"Mel! The hottest guy just asked you out! Oh my god!" She said jumping up and down.

I laughed and out my hands on her shoulders "calm yourself. It's just a date"

"I'm super surprised that you said yes though!"

"I honestly don't know why I said yes, it kinda just came out but whatever"

"Well I'm excited for you!"

"You can be excited for the both of us then" that was a lie though. I am very excited, I haven't been on a date in almost a year and with jack! Thats crazy! I never show that much emotion to people though, happiness or sadness because I haven't felt either in a while. I've had a bit of depression for a while, but it is not as bad as before. I used to cut, but I haven't in a few months. And for the first time in forever, I feel genuinely happy.

We walked back to our car, well my car but I drive Bree every where, and we drove back to our apartment that we shared. When we got to the apartment we watched Netflix together for about an hour until I got a text from Jack.

Jack: Hey Melody, if you're not busy tonight I was going to see if you wanted to go out on that date and we could go to dinner or something.

Me: Sure, what time?

Jack: is 7 okay?

Me: yup!

Jack: mkay, what's ur address?

Me: I live in the apartments on McKinnely St, number 43m

Jack: mkay I can't wait :P

Me: me either :)

I set my phone down and jumped up, "breeeeeee I have to go get ready for the date"

"ooooooo okay but you better tell me everything when you get home"

"I will" I yelled as I ran to my room. I grabbed   A black floral Skirt and a white crop top and a tan cardigan. I threw the clothes on and then curled the ends of my long dirty blonde hair and I put my signature winged eyeliner on and some mascara. Just in time, it's 6:58. I grabbed my purse and ran towards the door just in time again, because Jack knocked right as I put my purse on.

I opened the door "Hi Jack"

He blushed a bit and so did I "Hi Melody, you look beautiful"

I really blushed. "Thanks" I said as I stepped out the door.

We walked to the car and he opened to door for me. The whole ride there we talked about how much we both loved video games and he said that he had a small YouTube channel. Talking to him felt so natural.
