Chloe 16 , Nick 17

 *Chloe's POV*

You may see me at competitions, meet and greets, or anywhere. You may think I'm... on top of the world, but I'm not. My life went downhill quickly, and I may as well start with that. Maddie got accepted to do Broadway shows and TV appearances, so she's not here anymore, Nia and Asia moved, and I kind of only have what's left of the team. Barely. I lost friends in school, my parent's marriage is crumbling, fast, and I'm a... nobody, now, I guess you can say. *Bell rings* Well, whatever. I pack slowly and am one of the last to leave, as usual. Not paying attention, still, I bump into someone. Nick. I have no business being within ten feet of him, I've learned from our school's popularity chain.

Me(quietly): O-oh I'm sorry.

Nick: It's cool. Wait, since when are you in this class?

Me: Um.. since school started?

Nick: Huh, never noticed. Wait. You have dance tonight, right?

Me: Mhm.

Nick: Come find me. I've been wanting to talk to you.

Me: Okay... Well bye.

Nick: Later.

He talked to me! Why am I so surprised? We used to be friends, all of us on the team did. Well maybe them still but not me. I slip past people and get to class, then sit in the back.

Abby: And on top is... Chloe! You won again last week! I'm gonna challenge you this week, so be ready. This weekend we'll be going to In10sity Dance Competition in New York City! But, we must do our BEST because the Rotten Apples are coming!

Ugh. Not them.

Abby: Mackenzie, you have a solo, and Chloe, you will be going up against not one, not two, but three of Cathy's dancers this week. Two of them are boys. Beat them, you've done it before, do it again. Our group dance is "Way Back When". More of a sad piece, as if all the good times are gone and you miss them. Stretch out and get warmed up. Mackenzie, you're first.

When we all leave to the den, I sneak away to see if Nick really did mean to talk to me. Around the corner, I see him with other people. Hiding behind the wall, I watch him as he talks, laughs, wishing I was like that. His shirt is tight, showing his muscles and how fit he his. I'm so deep in thought I forget I'm supposed to talk to him. People start to leave, so I start going down the hallway as if going to Studio C. A feel a hand grab my arm.

Nick: Going somewhere?

Me: Oh, um, not that important. What did you want to talk to me about?

Nick: How come I never see you at school anymore? I remember middle school when you'd be getting detentions for being a chatterbox.

Me: Not many to talk to anymore.

Nick: You don't talk to your friends anymore? But you're so popular here.

Me: Yeah, HERE. Not there. Whatever. I don't have time to worry about friends. Too much other stuff going on.

Nick: Is it like... bad?

Me: I guess, but I'm used to it. I should probably get back. My solo practice is up soon and I have to stretch still.

Nick: Wait...
