Haven let it go, for a while anyways. But then they started to ask me questions. I was getting answers first, because I don't even remember how I got home from the party.
"Haven, Jake?" they looked at me all worried. "What the frock happened Friday night?"
They looked down ashamed. "We don't know.. Ian took you home, because Ember and you got into a fight and we wanted to stay and party some more." Haven finally said after about five minutes.
My friends left me with a random guy that I didn't even know. That's great. My side suddenly felt like I was being stabbed as I rolled over. My scream echoed through the house.
"Ash, we are so sorry, we thought you wanted to go. You seemed close to him."
They left me with some guy, that none of us knew, because I seemed close to him? How could I be close if I didn't know him?! They were just having to much fun to worry about poor Ashley. How sweet of my best friends right?
My nerves calmed down and all I said was "I'm going to go lay down." I could feel and see the irritation on my arms. They looked like somebody had taken sand paper, and sanded them until they were bleeding.
Apparently so did Jake, because he grabbed my hand and said "No, you're going to the hospital; now." I was in to much pain to really deny it.
When we got to the hospital the nurses looked at my their faces dripping with concern, and rushed me to a room, where i was seen within minutes.
"Oh my god! Ashley! What happened?" Oh great. My mom's here.
"Nothing, mom, calm down." She looked me over once, and gave me the 'you better explain, now' look.
"Okay I just don't know what happened. I don't remember yesterday at all, or Saturday.." She looked up from me to see Haven and Jake awkwardly shifting in the back corner.
"You were with them. That's what I was told at least." Her eyes grew small, like when you scowl.
I looked at them like, 'why did you tell her that?' they just nonchalantly shrugged. "Mom, I don't know what happened. I don't remember anything, I just didn't want to tell you that yet. You over react all the time." She looked at me, mouth open, like I was crazy, here it comes...
"How do you expect me to not act crazy when my daughter is black and blue, lying in a hospital bed, and she doesn't know why?" Okay, well when she said it that way... I voiced that, which made Haven laugh. The laugh was short lived because my mother shot a death glare.
"Mom, I'm fine. Really." She looked at me and said...
"Ashley, really. Do you not know where you are now? Are you losing your memory?" I looked down at the ground.
"Mom, I feel fine. I just look bad." they all looked at me like I was saying crazy things.
I wasn't fine, but I didn't want them to start all this worrying. They suffocate me. "Ash, you can't look like," she looked me up and down with a disgusted look, making me feel dirty, "and be okay." mom always did have the nurturing touch.
"Mom,can you please leave?" she looked hurt and started to argue but, Jake helped me by saying he wanted coffee, my mothers weakness.
"Ash, we never should have left you there with him. I'm really sorry. What was that earlier though?" I looked at her, daring her to push the subject further.
"Don't worry about it, just tell me. Did I win?" She looked confused. "How badly did I hurt Ember?" I rephrased.
Haven must have seen the intensity on my face, I wasn't really curious that I won, I wanted to know who did this to me, and if she had been effected as I had.
"Ash, you guys barley got to the fight. Neither of you really won." Relieve washed over me, I hadn't hurt her. That still didn't give me my answer though.
"You guys, being the irresponsible idiots you are, didn't happen to get Ian's number did you?" my voice was getting bad again. I could feel the muscles getting dehydrated again. The scratchiness was starting to worry me, I had always had a strong voice, not pretty, but strong enough that a sore throat didn't feel this badly.
Haven lit up like a Christmas tree. "Yes we did!" she shouted defensively.
"May I have it?" she looked across the room at the door, like she was waiting for Jake to walk back through the second he did. I was happy, psycho mom wasn't with him.
"Jake! Give her his number, she's being mean to me." I so was not being mean. I was being scared. He gave it to me, chuckling like this situation was funny.
"Now get out guys. I just want to be left alone." Jake looked reluctant to leave.
"No, Ash. You can't be left alone again, obviously you can't handle yourself." Oh, I see. They care after I nearly get beat to death. Great friends they are. Right keepers.
"I'm in a hospital. I'll call you guys later, let ya know how I'm doing. Okay?" Haven nodded. Jake stood still.
"Go on Haven, try to drag me out. I'm staying. I left her alone once and this happened." Haven just looked at me, and I waved her on. She felt bad enough, pulling Jake out would just make it worse for her. While she walked out she gave one last guilty glance, and was gone. I think I saw a tear sliding down her cheek, I had never told her to just go away.
"Jake, why are you being so protective now?" I lashed out at him, and he jumped back like a puppy flinching at the storm going on outside.
"Ash, I've always been protective over you. You're like the little sister I never had." His words almost touched a soft spot in my heart, but he did leave me to party.
"A big brother doesn't leave his sister at a party." I said coldly. He didn't back down. He kept saying how I was his little sister, and he was going to protect me from here on out.
"Jake, why are you being like this? I always thought Haven was my handful. Not you." he just looked at me and he said four words that I'll never in my days forget.
"Because, I love you."
There was an awkward silence for about five minutes. "J-Jake, I need you to leave for a little bit, get Haven back in here if you don't want to leave me alone." I looked at my bed sheets, and played with them. He just nodded and moved out of the room.
Haven came in shortly after that, she didn't say anything she just sat in the chair and stared at me. It was more of a blank stare though, like she was thinking. I called Ian, and the conversation didn't go the way I thought it would.
"Hey?" he said all confused into the phone, after I greeted him back I heard this cheer in his voice. "Oh! It's you. Hey Ash, how are you? I didn't see you at school today." He watched me at school? That's sweet?
"Yeah, really bad hangover. How was it?" he gave a dry chuckle.
"You must party harder and longer than I took you too." Oh, that's right... The party was Friday, it's Monday.
"Yep, that's me, just a crazed party girl." my laugh was kind of shaky. "How was the party? Nothing weird happened right?"
"No, some Logan guy came and got you though. He said you called. I thought you were bored with me or something." He sounded disapointed.
Logan? "I don't think I called anyone. How could anyone ever get bored with you?" I was kind of flirting with him. The guy I thought did this to me. I quickly said my goodbyes, and Haven looked at me like 'what is wrong with you?'
"What Have?" She scoffed at my response.
"You know Jake wasn't kidding right?" so she did know.
"Haven, I don't feel like that about him, and even if I did, I know how you feel, even if you won't tell me." she looked away quickly.
"We need to find this Logan guy." she smiled looking up.
"First I need out of here." Ugh, I hated hospitals.
