I ran as fast as my legs could take me. My village was being ambushed... My adoptive parents sent me away to warn the neighbouring city by the name of StoryBrooke.

I lived in somewhere called the WoodLands. It wasn't a very hygienic or comfortable place, but at least it gave me and my family a roof over our heads.

When I saw the edge of the forest not to many metres away, I sat on the floor, leaning against the tree as I caught my breath.

I recognised that my friend, Joel, had come over to me. He looked a little dull.

"Why the long face?" I snickered but immediately stopped when I realised he wasn't joining in like he normally would, "What's wrong?"

"It's your parents, they...." He paused and took a deep breath, "They died.. Trying to save you..."

I blinked. 'Is this true? Or is this some kind of trap?'

We heard voices from a distance, "Joel! We have to go!"

Joel turned towards me and shook his head sincerely whilst bowing, "I'm truly sorry... Your highness."

I am a Prince... But I'm not proud of who my biological parents are, or what type of rulers they are. No matter how much I wanted to yell at him for calling me that, I didn't have the courage to. I just watched as he ran off.

The emotions hit me like a tidal wave. Guilt, anger, betrayal, hurt.

I broke down crying, my sobs echoing around the forest, bouncing off of every tree.

I felt a tug at my old tatted trousers and looked down, only to see a black wolf pup snuggling into my leg.

I slowly reached out a shaking hand, "H-hey," I wiped my face with the back of my other hand and set it back down, "Did you loose your family, too?"

It snuggled into my hand, which was now petting it, and whimpered with a little cry, 'Yes. They died yesterday. They sacrificed themselves for me to get away from the hunters. The huntsmen got the whole pack.' A small voice said inside my head.

"Did you just... Talk to me?" I asked, moving my hand around it's stomach to pick it up and putting it onto my lap.

'Yes. You're a Wolf Whisperer. You are the only one left. You have dark magic inside of you, Archie. Peter Pan admires your strength.'

"Peter...Pan?" I gulped. He was the purest of evil.

He stole the hearts of the truest believers so that he could stay forever young.

'Why yes, of course! He's the only Peter Pan out there!'

"But... Mr. Gold killed him..." (A/N: Rumplestiltskin isn't Pan's son in this.)

The tiny wolf shook his head, 'Pan used a spell just before he got stabbed. It brought him back to life within 48 hours of death. He also used the magic in you as his strength in the underworld. That's why you were getting blamed for things that you didn't do. He cloned your body and then went into it, to bring himself back. You've always wanted to get revenge on your biological parents. They're Pan's next targets, young Archie. Join Pan... I'll be with you, no harm will come.'

I don't know why but, I trusted this Wolf.

'Oh, and also... Considering you summoned me, you are aloud to call me anything you wish.' His eyes twinkled.

I looked down at the ground to see the shadow of me and the wolf. It looked like a masterpiece, "Shadow..."

'Shadow?'

I nodded, "Shadow."

The wolf's tail wagged happily, hitting my thighs occasionally in the process as his eyes twinkled and he panted. I'm guessing he liked the name 'Shadow'.

'Remember what your parents sent you to do.'

I nodded and stood up, dusting myself off, "You're right... I can't let them down now."
