A set of eyes drift open, the facial muscles behind them forcing their lids to stay up, trying to keep them from closing shut again. Behind the drooping curtain of lashes, dark irises shelter crisp, black pupils. The dots move around lazily, slowly taking in images. They are in no rush to move, no rush to think. They take their own sweet time. Time is exactly what they don't have right now.
The rest of the body creaks into movement, it's joints rusted and creaking like a poorly kept machine. Systems awake like a domino effect. At first sight, still hazed and blurry, sensitive to light. Then second, hearing, the ears searching for sounds, yet all that comes through is silence. Next is smell, the nose sucking in dewy air. Taste, finding nothing but the wetness of the body's own mouth. At last, the final sense of touch. Nerves are jolted awake, one by one becoming perceptive in a flurry of fast chain reactions.
They stir awake into pools of sensors, actions and reactions, a means of self defense. Gradually, the components unite, going from many parts to one machine. That's what a body is, a machine. Flesh and blood joined together by one beating heart, taught to work through a sporadic mind. The ' machine ' sits up, pressing it's hands against the metal floor. Suddenly, it stands.
Or at least, attempts to stand.
Weight brings down each slender but sturdy leg, as the humans flesh jolts coming in contact with the grounds freezing surface. She hops from foot to foot, whining at the cold. Gradually, she learns to take steps forward, stretching out her refreshed joints and muscles from her once endless slumber. Feeling the freedom of movement, she smiles. The girl prances around the unknown room, as if doing some foreign dance. Her arms sway to the silent rhythm, limbs flying, hair caught in the still wind. She laughs, she smiles, she loves it. Then, everything just stops. For some reason, the arms drop to her side, and the feet stay still. Her hair slowly flutters back into place. Everything stops, because for the first time in the girl's life, she stands before the wall, plated in reflective metal. For the first time in her life, she see's her own reflection.
Not knowing who the creature that stands before her is, the girl stumbles. Her once so fluid movements falter, they turn gawky and awkward as she falls backward, crashing into every mechanism that was left astray behind her in this odd room.
" BANG "
The deafening sound echo's throughout the metal shelter, bouncing off the walls. The girl let's out a small cry, new to the feeling of pain. She rubs her sore limbs, frightened. Machines whirl, lights come on, devices are revealed from the room's new illuminated environment. In a matter of seconds the entire place is in pandemonium. Suddenly, a voice comes on from a monitor. A deeper one, definitely not her own.
" Ehem.. Yes? Are we rolling? Okay. "
The voice is scratchy, as if belonging to a hermit.
" Hello there. This is Professor Corener Wermuun speaking. If anyone is there, or should I say if you are there... "
He speaks with directness on the ' you '.
" This is a message. You are humanity's first successful Biodroid. The perfect combination of man and machine. More advanced than any human that has ever been born, than any robot ever made. You are what we call, ' Project TERRA. ' "
The girl, or Project TERRA, only blinks in fear and confusion. She listens warily, she does not trust anything.
" Now, let me tell you something TERRA. You are the last human, well, humanish being on Earth. And unless you want it to stay like that forever, you must do exactly what I say. "
