Mom kept making me spend my time outside. It was very hot and very boring. I spent some time at the pool, but that got boring. I spent most of the time exploring the neighborhood. I was lonely, not finding anybody who wanted to talk to me. I was resting against the fence that surrounded the park, a rather empty one at that. Then I saw a few people walking toward me. They were four boys. They walked up to me.
"Hey," said one of them, "Are you the new kid?"
"yeah," I said," my name is Kevin."
"I'm Locus." The kid said. He pointed to the others and said," That's Aiden, Liam and Jackson."
We greeted each other, shook hands, and soon we were talking and having a great time.
Just like that, I made four new friends. I learned a lot about them during that short time. Aiden and Liam were brothers, which didn't surprise me because they looked so alike. They were in the same class I was, a sophomore. They were nice and I thought that maybe I could have a life here after all.
We hanged out a lot near the park just joking around. We always had a good time. They met my siblings and--concerning Jackson and Lucas--were really envious that I had so much sisters and brothers. Apparently they get really bored alone. I, honestly, envy them since being the only child would be great. It was a bit of a game to argue about it. We did that for basically the rest of the summer.
Sometimes I'd notice that they were tired, kind of burned out. I'd ask if they were okay and they said that the were just doing stuff. I wanted to see what they were doing but thought that if they wanted me to know they would have told me. So I stopped worrying about it.
