Not being the Alpha of my pack wasn't exactly ideal, but my pack needed one. It wasn't that Bree wasn't a good leader, it was that I wanted power and I couldn't kill her. Why?
"Derek!"
My head snapped up and my eyes locked with Bree's blue eyes. "Bree."
She smiled. "I'd like for you to talk to your sister."
I blinked and grinned. "Uh, why?"
"She doesn't exactly find this pack ...'fitting.'"
I raised a brow and tilted to one side to see Cora behind Bree. She was glaring at Bree with her arms crossed. I pursed my lips and looked at Bree. "She's, uh, warming up to you. She doesn't glare at many people."
Bree sighed. "Can I speak to you in private?"
I quickly glanced from Cora to Bree. "Sure." I slammed my book closed and followed Bree into a room I came to learn she uses for scolding anyone in the pack. I closed the giant, metal doors behind me and turned to Bree.
"Derek."
"Bree."
"I'm serious."
I smiled, letting out a small laugh.
Bree let out a deep breath. "I know it was you who brought those teenagers here the past few nights."
I stayed silent and simply looked into her eyes. I didn't want to upset her, but I could tell she was already upset.
"Derek, I can't be responsible for every kid that goes missing in this town, and I certainly don't want to have that many teenagers in my pack."
I looked away. "I know. We've been through this before."
Bree's brows crashed. "Well then why do you keep bringing teenagers so that I can turn them? Sure there must be a reason, because you keep doing it and I keep refusing. So... why?"
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. This was it. The time to tell her was now. I locked my gaze with hers and took a step forward. She took a step back, but I took another step and she didn't move. "Bree, you're an Alpha."
Bree raised a brow, still not moving back. She began to blush and nod. "Yes. What does that have to do with anything?"
I smiled. "Well, an Alpha is only as strong as her pack." We were standing less than a foot in front of each other. "And the more numbers in a pack, the stronger it is."
She stared right at me. I could hear her heart racing and I knew she could hear mine racing. "But why would you..."
"I just want to make sure the most beautiful Alpha is protected if I fail her."
She froze, her heart racing, her breath stilling. I leaned in and waited to see if it was alright to kiss her. She slowly moved closer and I kissed her, cupping her hand. I kissed her again and slowly moved my other hand to the small of her back. I gently pressed her against the wall and kissed her neck. I heard her exhale as her hands raked my hair and I played with her earlobe using my teeth.
I took off my leather jacket and pressed her against the wall more with my body tightly against hers. I kissed her hungrily and I could feel Bree press her body against me, pushing me onto my back on the floor. I exhaled as she kissed and sucked on my neck. As she continued, I closed my eyes and let out a quiet moan. I rolled us onto her back and kissed her neck. I removed her clothes from her shoulder and bit her shoulder, sucking on it. She let out quite moans a I moved to the next shoulder.
I kissed her and let my hands explore her waist as her hands explored my back. I gave her a lingering kiss before I locked gazes with her, breathing heavily.
We stayed silent and simply stared ino each other's eyes, watching our breaths escape us. I slowly kissed her forehead. "I know it's only been... a week, but I couldn't stop thinking about you the moment I saw you."
Bree began to blush in the mist of her heavy breaths.
I kissed her cheek. "I'm sorry if I crossed the line."
She pulled me down onto her and kissed me. "I was thinking about you a lot too." She smiled. "I just thought that I had to warm up to you AND Cora."
I let out a small laugh. "What about my uncle?
She grinned. "Is it not obvious he warmed up to me a little too much?"
I laughed and kissed her lips softly. "Long live my Alpha."
Bree smiled and kissed me. "Long live my Beta."
