*This is the end of season 2, right after Merlin wakes up to see the carved dragon*

There was a smile on Merlin's face when he saw the small wooden dragon that his father had made him. That smile soon disappeared as a hand grabbed his mouth, he turned to see Arthur, "Cenrids men." He whispered and helped him up. Soon screaming men in armor ran towards them. Arthur pushed Merlin out of the away as he started fighting. Merlin looked around to see more men coming, he threw a sword to his father and grabbed the sword from the soldier Balinor had killed. He turned to fight the soldier behind him. he managed to knock the sword out of Merlin's hands. The soldier pointed his sword to Merlin's chest, Balinor ran to hit the blade away. The soldier was quick as he aimed again. he was here to kill, he didn't care who it was. He thrust his sword, straight into Balinor's stomach.

Arthur had defeated the other men and went to help Merlin and Balinor. He could see Merlin holding Balinor as he screamed sending the man they were fight flying backwards. He stood there, there was no way it was what it seemed. Arthur slowly walked closer to them, he could see Merlin crying and barely hear what they were saying.

Merlin lowered Balinor so he was lying down, "I see you have your fathers talent...Merlin.." "Please. No, please... I can save you." Merlin was trying his best to hold back his tears as his father died in his arms. Balinor spoke, "Listen to me. When you face the dragon, remember, you have to be strong. A dragons heart is on it's right side, not it's left." Merlin could't help but cry, "I can't do it alone." "Listen to me, you are my son. I've seen enough in you to know you will make me proud." Balinor tried to reach up and reassuringly put his hand to Merlin's face, but slowly looked to the sky as his hand fell limp. "No.Father.." tears started streaming down his face, "No!"

Arthur's head raced. Balinor is Merlin's father...he has his talents.  Does this mean he's a sorcerer? I would know, if he isn't how'd that soldier get thrown? He's been lying this whole time? How long did he know who his father was. Now who will save Camelot?   He walked closer to his crying friend. Merlin, just watched his father die though. I can't know for sure if he practices magic, he may not be able to help it. Arthur snapped a twig as he got closer, Merlin quickly turned to him, "Arthur!" he wiped away his tears and stood up, "I'm sorry." "What happened..." Merlin was choking up a bit, "Uhm. I lost my sword. Da-... uhm Balinor came to help me, and he was hit."

Arthur got closer, "What happened to the soldier? Merlin wiped his eyes again, "I took Balinor's sword and killed him." Arthur looked over at the soldier, "I don't see any wounds." Merlin scrambled for words, "uhm-" "However, I did see him fly back into that tree." "It mu-" "I heard you Merlin....I know Balinor's your father." Merlin's face was consumed with a look of fear and worry, "I don't know what you're talking about." "Merlin, don't lie to me, he is your father isn't he." Arthur was trying to keep calm, but he was terrified at the thought of Merlin being a traitor. Tears started streaming down Merlin's face as he slowly shook his head up and down, "Yes, he was my father." "How long have you known?" Arthur wanted to run away, he didn't want it to be real. "Giaus told me the morning before we left." Merlin sniffled and Wiped his eyes, he didn't want Arthur to see him crying. He was scared, his magic had to be kept secret. Now what could he do? Uther would have his head.

"Merlin." Arthur gulped, his throat started getting dry, He had never been so nervous in his life, "Are you a sorcerer." Merlin's forehead wrinkled, he was still fighting off tears, "Arthur..." he said quietly. "Are you a sorcerer?" Merlin opened his mouth, but couldn't seem to say anything. He sighed and with a heavy heart looked into Arthur's eyes. His voice was trembling ever so slightly "Yes." Arthur stared to back away, "Wha-...Why didn't.." He shook his head, "How could you?" "Please, Arthur, I've already lost so much, I can't loose you too. I only use magic for you, to protect people."

Arthur felt like he was going to cry, he put his hand to his head, "You use magic in Camelot? When?" "Quite often. I use when someones in danger, usually you. The day I first time saved you, when I first came to Camelot, I dropped the chandelier on the witch who tried to kill you. It was with my magic I was able to react so quickly to the knife she threw at you. I'm also the one who used magic in Ealdor." "You've been using it that long?" Arthur had half a mind to attack Merlin, he felt so betrayed. "I've always used magic... I was born with it."

"Who else knows?" Arthur couldn't process this, he was scared. "I'm guessing Giaus, he knew who your father was. But who else? Who else betrayed the kingdom, who else betrayed me!" Arthur was breathing heavily, clenching his jaw and holding back tears. "What was I supposed to do?!" Merlin was getting mad too, it wasn't suppose to happen like this. "I never had a choice in any of this! I didn't choose my father, I didn't ask to be your servant and I never asked to be magic!" Arthur walked up to Merlin, "Why would you come to Camelot, let alone stay there, working in the palace no less?!"

Merlin was tired. He didn't want any of this to happen. He stood there a moment hoping he could wake up, wake up and not be under attack, wake up and see his father, wake up and be happy, anything but this. "I told you, I didn't have a choice. It's my destiny." He looked into Arthur's eyes, trying to look past all the pain he was causing his friend, "It's already been decided, since the beginning of time. Some men are born to plow fields, some live to be great physicians, others to be great kings." Merlin sighed, he had no reason to be mad at Arthur, "Me? I was born to save you Arthur, and I'm proud of that. And I wouldn't change a thing."

Arthur looked at Merlin's face. he saw fear and sadness, but he also saw his friend. Someone who has proved he is willing to die for him and Camelot. He exhaled deeply, "Now what?" Merlin looked back to his father, "We have to get back to Camelot. There's more urgent matters." "You're right." he looked to Balinor. "We need a plan to stop the dragon, we need to leave now, I'll forget this conversation till we have the opportunity to discuss it."
