She walked down the hallways with confidence, her aura the told everyone she was here. She was a candle within the darkness. It was a breath of fresh air. But she wasn't perfect. Her doe eyes deceived you, had you believe that her innocence was of a small child. Not capable of hurting, not capable of saying anything but the truth. Disagreeing with whatever else you had to say, because they believed they were right.

The bubbly child within her escaped when she wrote that text. It hid behind her father's leg like it was afraid of the dark. If she ever was that child, it was long gone.

With a snap, an argument made her turn against the ones that have always been there for her. She laughed and had her time. Everyone had a giggle and we were suddenly the most interesting thing to make fun of. How could she? After all was said and done, she let it go. But did you? Of course you didn't. It ate at you, it killed you inside. Did she think we weren't going to find out? Her words were forever embedded into her phone and it took one swipe to find what she had said. Were you thought to be stupid? Like you couldn't work a phone? Well it doesn't matter now, does it. Everyone knows.

What everyone tells you its the truth. But the little voice deep down inside of your gut says different. No one can hear it. So you make it shut up. And let the words of those around you seep into your veins and into your blood where they go to your heart and become a part of your body. Slowly morphing unwillingly into the self that everyone said you were. You couldn't stop. It was what they wanted. You couldn't turn back. Her text had defined you and you had let it.

As you trudge down the dark path of lies that sits around you, you turn back and see your family, they're lost. Looking for the child they once had. Little do they know the child they once had is now buried inside of itself and never coming back. It had no reason to.

There was one thing I remember that left me thinking. She looked up at me and said one thing while setting her phone down...

"We all bitch.. right?"

No. No, we don't.
