So, this is a story by sparkpop and me. I was the one who edited it and made the final draft - which you are about to read right now. It's my first time to post a short story so it really is short, fast-phased and full of flashbacks.

I hope you guys enjoy this one! :)) Happy reading!

The Perfect Fairytale Moment

I sat down the couch after I finished cooking dinner. As I sat down and tried to unwind, I noticed a photo album buried under a pile of magazines placed just beneath the glass center table. I took it up and opened the cover.

Four naughty-looking yet adorable kids were on the first picture that I saw inside the album. It was me and my childhood friends - Jason, Noah and Brandi, Noah's sister. We were all born on the same year. Among the three of them, I considered Jason as my best friend.

I've always had a crush on Noah since I was a little girl and apparently, he has always had a crush on me too...but never had the guts to ask me out - not until I was 15.

I smiled sheepishly to myself. Suddenly, I remembered that time:

About nine years ago...

My name is Emily Beatrice Prokop - strawberry blonde hair, a good listener and a great promise keeper. Tonight will be the Perfect Fairytale Moment I've been waiting for. Finally, I thought to myself, this is it! My perfect fairytale moment where Noah tells me how much he loves me and then kisses me under the dark starry night.

I put on some lip gloss, sprayed some perfume, fluffed up my hair and I'm done. The door bell rang and I took one last look of myself in the mirror. There, I saw a girl in her baby blue knee-length dress, strawberry blond hair and pumps. There was an obvious expression of excitement in my face. Could you blame me? I'm going out to celebrate with Noah on our half year as a couple.

I ran downstairs and said my farewell to my Dad. "Bye Daddy." I said.

"Bye Honey." Dad answered. ""Make sure you're home by ten, okay?"

"Yes Daddy." I answered and I blew him a kiss.

I took a deep breath before I opened the door. And once I opened it, I saw the cutest person I've ever seen, wearing the cutest black shirt and dark blue jeans that fit him perfectly and a smile that has never failed to take my breath away.

"You look great." Noah said as he handed me the teddy bear and the white rose he's holding. He knows me too well not to bring a red rose; I think red roses are just too...cliché.

"Aww, thanks." I replied as I took out those gifts from him. "You don't look bad yourself." Because you looked like a prince from a fairytale book, I thought to myself.

He took out his arm. "Shall we?"

I simply smiled and took his hand. "We shall."

That night, we went to Olive Garden and had a great meal. I just love the garlic bread sticks and the salad! After that, we had a walk on the promenade. Tonight was supposed to be the perfect fairytale moment I've been waiting for but...the atmosphere was so silent and uncomfortable. Was there something wrong?

"It's a bit chilly, isn't it?" I asked, trying to break the silence.

He simply nodded. "Yea. You want my jacket?"

"No, it's fine." I answered as I shook my head.

"You sure?"

"Mm."
