Hi everyone! So I had to add changes to things so something in this chapter would work. That change, ladies and gentlemen, was that Ryder started to call Jay... Little Red because I figured Ryder needed to give Jay a stupid nickname. It felt necessary, ok! Anyway the reason for that nickname is at the end of chapter one. Anyway enjoy this chapter that I warn is rather depressing since we felt that was also necessary.

Jay's POV
Where the hell was I?! The last thing I remembered was I was with Ryder at school. I was going to tell him something then suddenly everything went black. It's not like I was unconscious, at least I hope I wasn't, and I wasn't having one of those out of body experiences, everything just went black and stayed black (which is kind of a mood killer if you ask me). I didn't think much of it, considering this wasn't the weirdest part of my day. From day one since I met Ry, my life has been an emotional ball of crazy. Everyday brought a new surprise and, like the dumbass I was, I continuously questioned it. I really needed to make better decisions. I needed to do a lot of things. First, I needed to stop living in denial about my feelings. Yes, I finally admit that I like that annoyingly attractive werewolf. Although I did tell him already, I was ready to take serious action. I know you are all thinking it took me long enough but in my defense, I enjoyed that comfortable hole called denial (not really denial since I did admit I in fact liked him). For those of you who wanted me to man up and run off with Ryder into the sunset, well, I can't believe I'm saying this but, I'm on your side, you bastards. Secondly, I needed to explain the situation to Molly, which I'd planned to do until Alfred yelled at me to go back to our mate, whatever the hell mate meant. Speaking of Alfred, where was he? He was being surprisingly quite. I mean the silence was greatly appreciated, but he wasn't just silent. He was gone. I couldn't feel him anymore. Soon the darkness seemed to become suffocating as a bright light took it's place. I couldn't breathe, like something was violently squeezing my lungs. Then the pain worsened. My stomach felt like it was being stabbed a million times and it would never stop. I coughed up good amount of before doubling over in pain. I clenched my eyes shut and hoped the terrible feeling would go away. I dug my nails to a cool, soft surface that felt almost like dirt. Wait a second! I quickly opened my eyes and saw that I was in fact lying in dirt. I looked around, finally thinking I could figure out where I was, but it was too foggy to tell. I tried to listen for something, anything, but I could only hear the beating of my own heart and my heavy breathing. Well that plan failed. I slowly started to get up, since the pain had finally passed, when I heard a something snap. My body tensed in surprise. My eyes searched for what caused the sudden sound but the fog was disabling my vision. Just when I was about to convince myself that I was imagining things, a pair of yellow eyes began to glow in the distance. They grew closer and closer till I could finally make out the figure that they belonged to. It was a black wolf. Not just any black wolf, but one that was strangely familiar. Then it hit me, the wolf was...me. My wolf and I starred at one another other before he, I, let out a howl. The magical sound sent shivers down my spine. Lowering his head, his golden eyes found mine. Before I could say anything, a wounded howl sounded in the distance. My wolf turned its head so fast I could've sworn it had whip lash, and then, it took off running.
"Hey wait!" I called after it.
My wolf didn't stop. Instead , he picked up his pace as if his life depended on it. Groaning, I followed him as best I could, but I lost sight of him in the mist. The fog started to clear but it was still hard to see. Instinctively knowing where he was going, I followed the sounds of barking and snarls. I was finally able to find my wolf only to stumble upon a battlefield. Blood painted the ground as both wolves and hunters attacked one another. Bodies upon lifeless bodies were scattered all around as the smell of death filled the air. My stomach turned at the sight. I spotted my wolf with its fangs deep into a man's throat. Distracted, my wolf failed to notice someone creep up behind him. I opened my mouth to warn him but nothing came out. Suddenly an auburn colored wolf sunk its teeth into the person's shoulder, knocking them down. My wolf's ears perked up in excitement as the other wolf tore its enemy to shreds. I sighed, relieved that my wolf survived but that didn't stop the feeling that something terrible was going to happen. Most likely something was going to happen because, what's my life without something horrible happening every so often? Lost in my thoughts, I failed to notice Ryder staring directly at me. I met his intense gaze which made my breath hitch. Even in his wolf state, I could sense his sarcastic grin. My skin raised as I waited for Alfred to howl, only to be painfully reminded once again that he was on that battlefield. We held our gaze until a sharp pain radiated through my shoulder. I grabbed my arm and fell to my knees, searching desperately for Alfred. I saw him pouncing on a hunter but mainly noticed the silver arrows sticking out of his shoulder. Seeing my distress, Ryder rushed over to my wolf's aid. They managed to tear apart the hunter but Ryder was unaware of the other hunter sneaking up behind him, bow drawn.
"Ry!" I shouted, trying to warn him. He turned to me with what seemed like a sad smile as an arrow went through the right side of his chest. He fell with a yelp that rang in my ears.
"Ryder!" I screamed, running for him at full speed, but I was too slow. The hunter drew another arrow and I listened to the painful click as it released and passed through the other side of Ryder's chest, next to his heart.
"Noooo!" I roared at the hunter, who had his next shot aimed at Alfred. He spun around, surprised as I crossed the last little bit of distance between us. Before he could react, I had his head between my hands. His neck snapped with a sickening crack. I know I should have cared or at least given a thought to killing someone, but Ryder was my one and only priority. I ran to his prone form and pulled him up to my chest.
"Ry..." I started but stopped when I saw his form changing. A few minutes later, his human form replaced the wolf.
"Ry, talk to me... please..." I begged.
"The arrows... made... human..." He paused, coughing up blood.
"Ryder! please stay with me! Is there anyway I can help???"
"Can't... silver." More blood followed.
"Don't talk. I know I'm being gushy and lame but just... hang in there!"
He chuckled a pained laugh. He tried to say something but it came out too garbled to understand. I leaned him closer to my ear.
He whispered again with a smirk,"Little... Red..." And with the last of his strength, he pulled his lips to mine in a final embrace. I held him there for what I wanted to be forever until he went slack in my arms. I was frozen and I mean frozen. My world, my heart, had stopped. I just sat there with his lifeless body in my grip for what felt like hours. Then the emotions flooded me until the pain became too unbearable.
"No!" I cried, slamming my fist on the ground.
"Ry.... RYDER! you can't leave me! You asshole! You arrogant...sly...lovable...asshole!" My voice broke on the last words and I began rocking, still holding Ryder's body.
I heard a low whimpering and I saw Alfred nuzzling Ryder. He then sat down and let out a pained howl. 'Please let this not be real' I thought over and over again in my head. I wanted desperately to believe this was fake but the emotions, the pain felt too real. I looked up to my wolf only for him to vanish once again. I looked down at Ryder as he too began to fade from my arms. My vision slowly blurred as the world around me spun. I heard footsteps coming toward me but I couldn't seem to move. I managed turned my head, looking up at the person. My vision was too shot to distinguish their face but I could easily make out the words that left their lips.
"I'm coming for you.....Jacob." The hunter spoke in a voice that was too familiar yet too foreign to remember.
Then everything went black. Again.
