For months Steve and Bucky had been traveling all over, tracking down HYDRA. They were set on capturing them and making sure they were no longer a threat to the world. They had a new lead on a girl named Y/N Y/L/N.  They had tracked her to a local cafe in New York and Bucky was going undercover.

He wandered in and glanced around, finding exit points and possible hiding spots just as HYDRA had taught him. Most everything seemed normal, people working and talking with friends. Bucky was looking for a very shady, threatening looking girl. That was not what he found. His breath hitched as he spotted you. Your h/c hair was tied up in a loose bun, your eyes had dark circles underneath them and your e/c eyes were red and bloodshot.

"Steve, there's gotta be a mistake. This girl looks anything but a threat. Actually, she looks like she hasn't slept in days." He said into the comm, walking to the counter. Steve seemed to ponder this before answering,

"I don't know Buck. She's probably been through a lot. It's says she was one of their top assets once you escaped. She could be dangerous...see what you can do, and be subtle." He replied. Bucky ordered a drink and walked to your table.

"Hello, miss. Would you mind if I sat here?" Bucky asked innocently. You looked up, startled, and Bucky noticed a bruise on your right cheek. You nodded and went back to staring at the table. "It's a lovely day don't you think?" He asked taking a sip of his espresso.

"Yes, I haven't visited New York since 2013. I've always loved it, at least from what I can remember." You frowned, wishing you knew why you liked it here or why you were there in 2013. Bucky nodded.

"I've lived here since I was 27." He told you glancing out the window to where Steve was sitting at a table outside. You followed his gaze and upon seeing Steve immediately realized something was wrong.  Sifting through what little memories you had you began to feel that this man was familiar...The Winter Soldier. You narrowed your eyes at him before speaking.

"как ты меня нашел?" How did you find me? You reached for the gun tucked into your waistband. He nodded before replying,

"я знаю парня." I know a guy. You glared deeper at him but he only smiled. "не волнуйтесь , им не больше его." Don't worry, I'm not him anymore. "Я просто хочу , чтобы помочь , я знаю, как вы себя чувствуете." I just want to help, I know how you feel." Keeping a hand on your gun you replied,

"Почему я должен доверять вам?" Why would I trust you? He tilted his head and took another drink.

"я могу помочь вам скрыть от HYDRA." I can help you hide from HYDRA. Your ears perked up and you let go of the gun. For almost a year you had been running from HYDRA and here this man was, offering you a safe place just like that. You considered declining but remembering your last run in with them decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.

"Fine, on one condition." He smiled.

"Of course."

"No tests. I don't know what HYDRA did to me and frankly, I don't want to. If you can keep them from finding me, I'll do whatever you say." You told him. He avoided eye contact.

"Alright, but I have a condition for you." You raised an eyebrow but gestured for him to go on. "You have to sleep. I can help with the nightmares but if you don't sleep you won't be able to function. You look like hell as it is." You nodded.

"Sounds fair."

Good, let's go meet Steve."

Four months later you had moved into the Avengers tower with Bucky and Steve and had been learning to control your powers. You could manipulate dark energy and had telepathic abilities. Everyone had been extremely supportive and, in honor of your moving into the tower, Tony was throwing a party. Honestly you had never experienced a party but Bucky, ever the gentleman, had assured you that it would be fine and just to stick with him.
You stood in front of the mirror in a blue dress, debating whether or not you should leave your hair down. It was insanely long because HYDRA never cut it but it become a habit for you to braid it or put it in a bun so you didn't have to wash out so much blood. Remembering the way you used to curl your hair and leave it down you decided that it would be a nice change. You pulled out your hair tie and ran a brush through it.  (Dress below)
