CHAPTER 12

Allison's POV :

"No! This is not about you, Lydia! C'mon!" Charlie wasn't thrilled with Lydia's pre-written speeches.

"It's not all about me Charlie, I've just included a few references where I saved her from committing fashion homicide. And it's not like they're lies, some of them are actually true. Right Allison!?

Allison?!

Oh god! Earth to Allison! Can you stop thinking about Scott and join us please?!"

Lydia's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

All I could think about was, what Stiles had told me. It keep running in my mind. The sacrifices. What made it worse was it reminded me of my Mom too. She had sacrificed her life to maintain the family code.

My family A.K.A the Argents, are a generation of werewolf hunters, of great skill and we followed a strict code. The men of our family were trained from adolescence on how to fight and even kill them if necessary.

*We hunt those who hunt us*

That's what my dad used to say to me ever since I started my own training. Well, I was different, since I was a girl, because the women in our kin are not just warriors, but leaders.

We help with the strategic planning and the actual showdown with these creatures.

Ironically, against all my beliefs, I'm in love with a werewolf, my very own Scott McCall. Just saying his name in my head, made me smile.

"See I told you she was thinking about Scott!" Lydia retorted.

"Allison, we have to focus! The memorial is in a few days!"

"Two days to be exact." Charlie replied to Lydia.

"Sorry girls, it's just that, there's something on my mind. And I just needed some space!" I finally joined the conversation.

"C'mon Allison! Focus! It's important and we can't fail in this too ... I mean ..." Lydia had accidentally uttered something.

"Fail in this too? What do you mean? Is there something wrong Lydia?!"

She finally gave in.

"Well, I'd got an A for my English assignment, and ... Well, I'm an A+ student, so Ms.Blake said I'd have to work on my speech giving skills, because, you know, after everything that's happened, I keep zoning out and I can't focus and there are way too many thoughts in my head, some of which I have no control over ..." And she switched into a frenzy.

"Ohh Lydia! I knew there was something!" I said jokingly.

Charlie was confused 'cause she couldn't understand what Lydia was talking about.

I just held Lydia's hand and looked into her suddenly sad green eyes and mouthed "it's gonna be ok"

"Umm? Sorry for ruining the moment, but I really don't know what you guys are talking about, mind filling me in?"

Poor Charlie, she knew nothing, absolutely nothing.

"Well, umm... Lydia's been through quite a lot of family issues and issues with Jackson, so ..." I hoped my lie sounded believe-able.

"Ohh." She turned towards Lydia and gave her a hug.

"Boys will be boys!" She whispered and the three of us chuckled.

When a little of the tension cleared from the air, we put on our thinking caps and collected all the wonderful memories we had with Lyla. Charlie shed a few tears. But in the end, we came out with heartwarming little speeches that would definitely touch the hearts of those who came.
