I put my lunch down on the table, opposite my best friend Katie.
"Are you still going out?! Seriously Jess, it's been months?"
"I know!! Exactly 8 months and 17 days. He's planned a date for us tonight" I tossed my hair behind my face.
"Wow. Big deal. It's not hard to take someone out to an outdoors restaurant" she says looking down at her lunch. She starts stabbing a piece of broccoli with a fork.
Every time we talk about Ethan she gets in a mood. Katie's always been jealous of me and him. He is one of the 'hotties' in our school. She asked him out once and he turned her down so he could date me instead. She still hasn't gotten over it.
"You could at least try to sound happy for me" I say.
I cut up a piece of potato and stick it in my mouth.
"Why would I try and sound happy when you stole my boyfriend?" She says looking straight in my eyes.
"I didn't steal him. He chose me"
She shoots a deadly glance that signals for me to stop talking. I gulp causing the potato in my mouth to get stuck at the back of my throat.
Seriously?! when is she going to get over it? Can't she just be happy for me for once?
