Veronica's POV
I need to get something from the cornucopia! I thought quickly as I ran as fast as my feet would will me to go. Once I reached there (I was the first one) I grabbed a backpack and 2 bows. Hopefully this will come in handy. I thought. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw a shadow running toward me. I grabbed a quiver of arrows and dropped the other bow. Makenzie came into the Cornucopia panting not acknowledging that I was waiting in the shadows. She grabbed a backpack, a bow, 2 quivers of arrows, and hooked a small pack around her waist and stated running out of the cornucopia. "Makenzie!" I shouted after her as I ran through the the tall hilly grass with a few scattered trees. She turned to see me sprinting after her. She started fumbling with her bow. Then she got an arrow ready to fire. I stopped in my tracks in my tracks. She's trying to kill me. "DUCK!" She yelled. I decided to listen and dropped to my knees quick. Makenzie let go of the arrow. I turned away, I opened my eyes. I was still alive! I looked behind me to see Doug's body fall limp to the ground. "You weren't trying to kill me!" I shouted after the cannon. "No! Come on let's go!" She shouted to me. We stated running towards the woods. There were 2 more cannon booms before we even reached forest. What about Ben! I suddenly thought. "Makenzie where is Ben." I called to her. "I don't know we need to hurry!" She shouted. There was another cannon.
After sometime of running we stopped. "We need to find Ben." I said as soon as we caught our breath. "Ok lead the way." We stated to walk through the forest. After a bit of walking we decided to sit and look through our packs. We had some dried apples, dried beef, a water canteen, some throwing knives, 3 pairs of socks, a pair of gloves, and dried peaches. After we both finished a peach slice there was some rustling in the bushes. "Hello?" I called. "Hey." Said a voice. It was Ben. "Ben!" I called as I ran up to hug him. "Hey" he said out of breath. "Well I guess Ben found us. Let's set up camp and wait so we know who's dead." Makenzie said. After a little bit it was dark and the anthem playing. The faces of 4 tributes appeared in the sky. The first one was Dough, the second one was Cecelia, the third one was Bradon, and the last one was Max. It's been 1 day and there are 4 people dead. Let's see how then rest of this plays out.
