Do you ever look around at your surroundings? Nothing new, but you somehow still see beauty... A familiar beauty that never fades.
I'm sitting on my bed, curled up, surrounded by worn pillows, and hand sown quilts, and down blankets. Looking out the window twirling my pencil around in my pale skinny fingers.
The view out of my window is quite beautiful, my whole backyard up until the quiet forest is an old overgrown garden, lined with an old stone wall covered in ivy and varieties of flowers.
I pushed my long black messy hair behind my ear, looking down at my notebook for school. I'm homeschooled, it's what's best for me, i can't stand public school. I finished the last page and let out a long sigh.
"Sage?" I hear a knock at my door slowing opening. My mother stood there, her tall soft small figure outlined by the white doorframe, I take after her. "Do you want to walk out in the garden with me? If you're done with your work?" I smiled at her soft comforting voice.
"Yeah, I'm done i'll get some tea for us too." I said stepping off my bed. I've always been close with my mother. I follow her into the kitchen grabbing two small tea cups. I proceed to make some lemon and herb tea.
We were both barefoot walking out into the shaded cove of trees and plants. We sat on a small rustic white set of a table and two chairs, and sipped our tea. It was silent for a while we were just enjoying the sound of birds and the simple evening.
"I can't believe someone actually moved into that house next to us." My mother said holding her tea cup looking into their yard hidden behind the rose bushes.
"I know, and please, don't try to make us aquatinted with them." I said chuckling. "I know how you are." My mother is the opposite of me when it comes to socializing. She's gonna welcome them anyways.
"What? I won't do anything, i got a glimpse of a boy though, their son? He's pretty cute." My mom said smirking at me, she knows what she's doing.
"Mom, no I'm not interested in having a boyfriend. I don't think i could ever find anyone my taste anyways." I said trying to hide that i was actually disappointed.
"Oh, baby you'll find someone... Maybe it's the boy next door." She said finishing her last sip of tea.
Now a boy next door type might be in my taste. I joked to myself.
