"But mum, why do i have to go to school today? Can't I just start on Monday like any other normal kid would do?" I said to my mum.

"Britt, you need to start at your new school as soon as possible. You need to make as much friends as you can" mum said sternly while she was packing my lunch for school.

"I don't care about having friends. They are no good anyway. They will just stab you in the back when you least expect it" I mumbled as I brushed my fingers through my long brown hair.

"Brittney Rose! You are going to school today, no ifs, buts or maybes! Okay" mum exclaimed.

I sighed and picked my bag up and stuffed my lunch into my lunch box, "Yes mum".

"Good. Now get going before you're late. I'll see you after school" mum smiled and kissed my forehead.

I nodded my head and walked out the door. I walked down the streets of Camden. I don't live that far away from the school. Only enough that I have to walk to school everyday.

The thought of starting year 10 at a new school is horrifying. Making friends is really hard to do when you are me. I'm the quiet, nerdy, over achieved, short ass girl who's too shy to talk to people she doesn't know. Yes, that's me.

I looked around the street at all the houses. They are really big and modern. I was looking at this one house, when I saw a boy walk out the front door.

I don't know why, but I kinda just stopped and stared at him. He was hot! He had brown hair that swept across his forehead, brown eyes, he wasn't overly tall and I liked the way he was dressed in his school clothes.

As he was walking down the pathway, he stopped and looked up at me. We had this weird eye connection before we both looked away at the same time.

I watched as he got into his car and drove past me to school. I wonder who he is. Scratch that, I need to know who he is.

I continued walking to school. I saw the school gates come into view and I sighed to myself. Here goes my first day of being a loser.

I walked into the office and waited at the front desk until someone was ready to speak to me.

"Hello, how may I help you?" a lady with short black hair asked me.

"Oh hi, my names Britteny Bell. I'm just starting today" I smiled.

"Oh yes, Brittney. Here is your timetable and your locker combination. I hope you settle in well here" the lady smiled as she handed me my things.

"Thank you and I will" I smiled as I left the office.

I walked out into the corridors and almost had a heart attack. There were kids running around everywhere.

I walked around awkwardly trying to find my locker. I eventually found it beside a girl who was standing at the locker next to mine. She had short blonde hair.

I opened my locker quietly and put my books in there. I was about to close my locker door when the girl next to me turned around and faced me. She looked me up and down, as though she was judging me. But her face softened and she smiled at me.

"Hello there, my names Chantelle Horan. I haven't seen you around before, are you new?" she smiled at me.

"Um yes, I just started here and I'm in year 10. My names Brittney Bell" I smiled warmly.

"What a pretty name" she smiled. "Would you like me to show you around?".

"I would love that, thank you so much" I beamed.
