As we drove over the sand dunes, we saw camp up ahead. Around 30 tents, all holding U.S. soldiers. Why are we here you ask? Some archeologist went missing in the area, and for some reason the U.S. decides it's a terrorist threat. His last known coordinates were roughly a mile away. We had done a sweep of the area, and found nothing but sand.
I felt the familiar rumble of the jeeps engine as we pulled to a stop. The driver hopped out, leaving the engine running.
"Hey dumbass! You left the wheels on!" I yelled to my companion. He looked up at me confused as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the keys.I turned around in my seat to a sand mound moving towards us at incredible speed. I called out, but within seconds the jeep was launched a large distance. Screams and gunshots were the last thing I heard before blacking out.

We heard it. We all heard it. The overpowering sound of shifting sand, the gunshots, and the explosions. The whole haven heard it. The humans gunshots were normal, but the whole situation had been odd from the beginning. Humans had never fought over this area. It was literally a desert wasteland.
I ran to the upper tunnels, trying to reach the gate in time, but I was too late. Two guards stood watch to make sure no elf was hurt by going outside. I recognized one of the guards, Toby, an old friend of mine.
"Hey Toby!" I said trying to butter him up.
"Leri, I'm not letting you outside." He said with a smirk. Well that went well.
"Can you at least tell me whats going on?" I said in exasperation. He looked at me like he was unsure what to say.
"There is a large unidentified biomass in the humans base. We aren't going out for salvage until it has left." He said nervously. I may want to re-think this. A camp of humans+large unidentified biomass=prolonged fight? That just didn't add up. Humans were the best of the best when is came to head on fights. The amount of war technology they had could take down a heard of elephants, and there were around 50 of them. The battle should have been won before it started. Suddenly a large chunk of metal stabbed through the gate which opened up to a few feet of sand. The door was halfway off its hinges, yet the amount of sand above us should have stopped a bullet. Others were arriving now, and it was only a waiting game for the gates to open to a desert covered with new supplies.

There was an arm in front of me. It was pressing against an airbag, preventing me from suffocating. I looked around, realizing I was upside down. The jeep was flipped, the drivers side of the car had completely caved in. I dragged myself out my window to see that one of the jeeps doors was jutting out of the sand a few feet away. I looked around, still having too strong a concussion to stand. I heard a banging noise, metal on metal in the direction of the door. I saw that the door was moving in sync with the banging, but my thoughts at the exact moment were: Why is that door yelling at me?
Suddenly the door fell over before sinking into the sand. I heard voices, and people started to come out of the sand. They had real pointy ears. They ran in my direction; they must have seen me. But instead of stopping they kept on going till they got to the jeep, where they started searching. I wanted to say: "Hey, Thats mine!" But it just came out as grunts. I started to drag myself towards where the people had emerged. People meant civilization, and civilization meant safety. I reached my destination, making me fall for a few feet before hitting a hard floor.
"Well I'll be damned! Looks like one survived!" A voice to my right said in awe.
"Capture him and give him medical care. We'll make him tell us what happened out up there." Said a voice to the left.
I felt myself being lifted up as many figures in cloaks and cowls matching the sand ran to where I had fallen from. I reached to my belt grasping my knife. I tried to make a jab at my captor, but I just ended up dropping the knife. One of the cloaked figures picked it up, inspecting me as I started to black out again.
