"Jewls?" I heard Carter question as I slowly turn around to face the new 6th grade player.
"Yup, it's me." I respond with a super fake smile. I turn back around to face my work that I was trying to finish.
"It's been a really long time, like 4-5 years? Right?" He says with the worst guesses ever. 'Really did it not occur to you that we were best friends for 2 and a half years. In fact I remember being the only person that would talk to you, but it doesn't look like that matters anymore... Does it, Carter?'-is what I wish I said to him but this was all I could come up with.
"It's only been three and a half." I moronically answered.
"Hey bab- why are you talking to the loner?!?!" Tessa... No further explanation needed.
"We're friends... Right jewls?" He asks hopefully, like he wants me to say yes.
"Not really, but if u want to be friends again than sure." I say bluntly still focusing on my work, not even bothering to turn around.
"Oh, yeah that would be fine. Bye jewls, I'll see you around?" He questions with a smile, so I nod to raise his spirits and he winks at me than walks off with Tessa.
I look over at the two of them, she laughs at a joke and he sits there, he laughs at a comment and she gives him a dirty look... I don't get it.
I walk over to them shooting a fake smile towards Tessa. "Carter? Do you wanna hang out later today?... We could go to the movies!" I suggest.
"I would love that!" He answers in excitement as he leaves Tessa's side, her not even noticing he starts reaching over to hold my hand and I stop him. "Aren't you dating Tessa?!" I question with anger and confusion.
"No. We broke up last year. That's why I wanted to talk to you again! She never let me talk to you so I broke up with her, but you were always avoiding me and shutting me out." He replies.
"It wasn't just you I was shutting out. I shut out everyone when I saw you kiss Tessa, because that was the day I lost my one and only best friend." I say in a shy and sad manner.
"Nobody could ever take me away from you, you are like a sister to me!" He says with a wide smile.
