If you’re like most people you’ve probably heard of myths and monsters.  They’re fun to indulge in to weave fantasies from but it’s all make-believe, right?  WRONG.  The creatures that inhabit your dreams- and nightmares- are really out there somewhere.  Now, I’m not saying that there is a monster under your bed.  These creatures keep a pretty low profile.  If you encountered one you wouldn’t even know it.  Truth is they have there own little world scattered across the globe.  You need a special key to even know of one’s existence.  So how do I know about these realms?  I’ve been there.  Lets keep this our little secret, Okay?

“Come on Adeline wake up we’re going to be late for school!” yelled Mike, practically blowing up my eardrum.

“Alright, alright I’m coming, jeesh.”

Stupid Mike, always waking me up in the middle of a dream.  I quickly get dressed into my pink Hollister t-shirt, black capris, and my coach shoes.  I grabbed my bag and raced down the stairs.

“ Good morning honey, happy birthday!” said Mom.

She was obviously trying to hide the fact that dad was probably of at the bar like usual.  Completely unaware that it’s February 14, my birthday and Valentine’s Day.  I walk out the door completely ignoring her.

“Why are you ignoring mom she was just wishing you a happy birthday,” said Mike a little disappointed.

“Look Mike, you’re only six. You wouldn’t understand what I’m going through right now”.  “You know just because dad is never here doesn’t mean you need to take your anger out on mom, you're just going to make her more depressed!” yelled Mike.

He used the d-word he said it aloud, he did it on purpose.  What is going on with Mike?

I finally arrive at school just before the tardy bell rings.

“Adeline, you have been transferred out of your history class into a one-on-one classroom, with a new teacher, Mrs. Smith.” says the secretary.

“Okay, thank you.” I say.

I head to room 107 Where Mrs. Smith is waiting.  I can just imagine what she will look like, an eighty-something year old, with fake teeth, old lady glasses ,and a dress that was out of fashion even in the 1600’s.  ¡Knock Knock Knock!

“Come in.”

I walk in the door cautiously, making sure not to freak out at her oldness.  When I walk in all I see is a beautiful woman that looks like she is in her late 30’s.

“You’re Mrs. Smith?”  I asked surprisingly.

“That would be me, I know I am a bit younger than some of the other teachers,” she said with a confident smile that could light up a room.

“Uhhh,” is all I could manage to say.

¡BEEP BEEP BEEP!

“Oh I’m sorry it’s just my mom,” I explain.

“Oh it’s okay answer it,” she replied.

But I could tell she flinched when I said mom.  I pick up my phone and answer.

“Adeline, vkmfkvdfgsnmklserngvk; en, and now he’s gone!”

“Whoa mom calm down what’s wrong, speak slowly this time, okay?”

“Well, I went to go pick your brother up from school because of his dentist appointment and they said he never came to school and now he’s gone.  Please Adeline, you have to help me, he’s my son, I love him!”
