Suspicion With Silence

We don't speak for a while but eventually Mr. Matthews comes in and breaks the silence. "Girls" he says slowly entering the room. "It's time for dinner." He says sitting next to Riley. "Maya could you excuse us. I need to talk to Riley for a minute." He says glaring at her. I leave the room and close the door but still listen through the door. "How could you let this happen!" She expresses with stress. "I didn't think they would actually do it." He said trying to answer her question. "Now we have to deal with Josh. He was completely in the loop and now he's got this fake amnesia thing going with Maya and her family. We always knew he had a thing for her but this is ridiculous. Now get out before she gets suspicious!" She whisper yells. I tip toe to the bathroom to make it seem like I was there for that time. What could that mean? Let what happen? Who's they? Is Josh actually faking? None of this makes sense. I exit the bathroom and Mr. Matthews gives me a disgusted look. I go to Riley's room and she is still just sitting there. Should I confront her or just go with it. I decide to just go with it. "I'm sorry Riles. I know you wished he would get better but he's gonna need time to heal." I said as she dug her head into my shoulder. "It's dinner time." I whisper. She slowly rises her head up and lunges her body up to balance on her feet.
