The sound of the door creaking closed and locked echoed throughout the house before the sound of rustling and hard steps followed after.
"Cherry could you come here for a second? We'd like to introduce you to someone." Her parents had called from the first story of their old, two story, wooden cabin. The young girl had put down one of the many dolls she had and smiled.
She walked down in her baby blue knee-high dress. It perfectly fits her small frame with short Ruffles sleeves that hugged her arm comfortably. A white collar compliments the outfit with a crochet design surrounds her neck.
She was a small, frail looking girl with brown hair and eyes and pale white skin. She was a quiet girl, however, she wasn't shy. She usually stayed in her own imagination and kept to herself. But, oddly enough, was very exited to meet someone new.
Cherry had climbed down the stairs with a grin on her face exited to meet someone new whom she could possibly call her friend. She peeked around the corner and saw her parents alone with a young short girl around her age. She was wearing a purple Ruffles dress that puffed outward with a glittery white belt around her small waist. She had pale skin, slightly darker than mine, and black hair and dark brown eyes and wore a small shy smile.
"This is Naomi." Her parents smiled at their daughter and glanced down to the small child. "She's very shy so be sure to be nice." He father said gently but firmly to be sure what he said would be enforced.
Cherry waved and greeted her excitedly and swiftly walked over to her.
"My name is Cherry. Cherry Arnold."
She paused and smiled softly at Naomi and grabbed her hand for her to follow.
" Let's go outside there's a really cool lake that I want to show you!"
Before she could blink, Naomi she was being dragged be the hand out the door towards the woods.
The satisfying crunch of the fallen leaves, are heard under her feet as they're crumbled into a dust whilst they head over to their destination. The tall trees surround them and soon block the view of the house.
There weren't many houses here but you could often see many hikers or wanderers roaming around this area. Many of which were either photographers looking for the right picture or just curious people getting lost and in need of assistance.
Finally the lake is in view glistening in the sunlight with an unused wooden ramp sticking out into it to sit or fish. Finally stopping the run to rest. Naomi goes on the ground eyes closed and cherry soon joins her, breathing heavily trying to catch her breath. She turn over towards Naomi ,"long run, huh?" She asks lightly laughing. Naomi still has her eyes closed with the same small shy smile on her face. Cherry decides to close her eyes as well and she hears rustling beside her.
"Wait" she laughed out, "I'm still tired." She heard more rustling but decided to keep still as she trusted her. The wind softly blew against her skin and whistled in her ear relaxing her further. After a minute or two she opened her eyes and sat up. She looked to her side and realized Naomi wasn't there as expected and looked around. She looked by the old, mossy dock and saw Naomi by the edge, her eyes widened and gasped.
"Naomi!" She screamed as the girl slowly fell into the green shimmering water. She got up and ran as fast as she could to the dock.
"Naomi! Naomi! Help!" Knowing well nobody would be there she jumped in to save her. She felt the cold, dirty water surround her body as she sunk down. She opened her eyes against her will and saw nothing but green, foggy water surrounding her vision. She flailed as she tried to get up, however, she couldn't swim. She did anything to get to the surface to get air into her desperate lungs. She reached anywhere to grab something but she found nothing to no avail. She began to get scared and began to cry but that didn't help as she gasped in looking for air only to find the water invading her lungs. She felt the air with her finger tips, it was so close. The water seemed to get dirtier, or was it just her vision blurring, she couldn't tell anymore. She thought she felt small fingers above the water but she wasn't sure. Her body began to slow and get weak as her lungs slowly filled with water and sunk her further down the lake. Her eyes finally shut as she gracefully sunk with her dress flowed above her and her arms reached out. Finally she softly hit the floor.----------
The sound of feet crunching the leaves is heard in the distance.
"C'mon!" A young girl in her mid teens had yelled running in front of two others. "I know I heard someone yelling!"
They reached a lake and slowed.
"You're just imagining things Sarah come on let's head back." An older male had pleaded.
"No, no I'm sure." She looked around and saw something on the dock. She walked toward it as the two other sighed and followed behind. She ran and climbed onto the deck and saw a life size doll lying on its stomach and both arms reached out over the edge. She turned it over and inspected it further. It was wearing a beautiful baby blue knee-high dress. That perfectly fits its small frame with short Ruffles sleeves that hugged its arm comfortably. A white collar compliments the outfit with a crochet design surrounds the dolls neck. It had pale skin and black hair and black eyes with a big grin-y smile, that seemed a little too wide.
"It's a doll" she informed the two and picked it up. "What a shame to leave it here. Can I keep it?" She asked enthusiastically a smile brighter than the dolls new one.
The other man sighed,"Fine, but we have to leave now it's getting late."
She complied and held the doll gently over her shoulder as she walked away.
