Intro
There once were two twin brothers, gods, that quarreled for their father’s attention. The divine being could not possibly ponder and solve the children’s problems. The father tried to appease their grief with luxurious gifts. But one of the brothers, discovering his new power over their father, demanded more and more. Eventually he convinced his brother that this was the key to happiness, even though at the beginning the other brother had not wanted possessions and demanded to see his father. Out of grief he agreed with his brothers plan. They wanted worlds of their own. How could their father possibly refuse? The brothers thought so childishly. “Then so be it” said their father “You will have worlds of your own but I warn you, you can only belong to one world” the brothers not realizing how literal their father’s words had been. But so be it. The brothers, realizing they had been tricked, became furious. One brother accepted his fate of mortality and set out make the best of his damnation; although they would die they still had their divine powers. The first brother used the powers of will and hope to create his world. The other brother furious with there father, and swore vengeance. The second brother sot out to use the powerful and forbidden source of hatred and fear to create his world. He then sought to create five vessels for himself with his memories that would act as his body even after the original had died, giving himself the closest thing to mortality he could possibly hope for. Years past and there father watched them create their worlds in peace and in agony. The father after 300 years forgave the first son of his and granted him immortality and a return to the high heavens. He refused. The father, shocked, granted his first son’s world a gate to the heavens where the dead of his world could go. The first son thanked him for the gift and the two never spoke again. The second brother saw this through the thousands of lives he had sacrificed to make a gate of his own that led into his brother’s lands. The first brother saw this and built a fortress made out of the strongest metals, and could only hope it could withstand his brother vengeance. It didn’t.
Chapter 1
Cameron glanced around at the trees older than all three races themselves. Even more experienced than all three races possibly, but it was common knowledge that the trees had seen more bloodshed than all three races. Cameron stood there pondering these things until he remembered he was needed in the real world, the world where if he let his guard down he would be slaughtered and consumed like swine. This was also the reason he was here in the first place, to prevent this same thing from happening to the ones he loved and his entire race for that matter. Cameron remembered all the smiling faces of his family that he hadn’t seen in so long. The love he felt there, in his own home, he did not feel here and he missed that. CRACK Cameron’s train of thought was broken by a sharp noise and he snapped back to reality. He took a tight grip on the fore bar of his long bow unsheathed an arrow and strung it. He pulled the string back, the bows energy shifted entirely to the tension in the string. As Cameron scanned the undergrowth he saw the reason that he was here. The reason he couldn’t see the faces of the ones he loved. The threat to all of humanity. It slouched lowly to the ground, eyes glaring at Cameron. Its drool still red from its latest meal Cameron guessed. It stopped, Cameron saw what he thought was fear in the creatures eyes. He couldn’t have been more wrong. The creature stood and screamed. The sound made Cameron’s blood curdle and churn. This was not the only frightening thing about the creature. As it stood it revealed a necklace made of the bones of its fallen enemies, Cameron’s allies. The only thoughts that came to Cameron’s head now were ones of rage. The creature charged raising his knurled and jagged sword forged behind the oppressing gates of hell. The creature charged going faster than Cameron had ever thought to be possible by a living being. Cameron stood filled with nothing but rage. He released the string and the tension in him and his bow was released as the arrow went flying towards his target. The arrow plunged into the creature’s chest embedding itself into the very core of it. The thing stopped as if it had hit a brick wall and rebounded back from the force of the blow it had been dealt. Cameron’s rage vanished as he saw the creature fall to the ground lifeless. He was frightened at his power. Cameron had trained to do this for so long but had never actually had to take another being life. He knew he should not feel sympathy but for some reason he did. He sat trying to catch his breath that for some reason was going out of control. “ is it really that easy to take another beings life” Cameron thought to himself. The answer was no. Cameron heard the creature groan. He whipped around withdrawing his dagger from its sheath. The creature was slowly but surely rising from the ground. Once again the emotions Cameron had been feeling vanished. The creature stood stretching and tore the arrow out of his chest the agony showing on its face. Cameron panicked and through his dagger. It whizzed through the air planting its self-smack dab in the center of the creature’s forehead. The damage of the attack was shown on the back of the creature’s head where the tip of the dagger stuck out. Cameron walked over and recovered his dagger from the carcass. This time he was certain he had ended its life. He took a good look at the creature now. It had wrinkled muddy green skin. It had long finger resembling his sword. It was a tall creature. Surprisingly the creature’s feet were small and rather petite looking. The creatures face was disgusting. It had a long crooked nose, but this was hardly the most horrifying part. Neither were the ears that Cameron saw had been gnawed at by time and other beats. It was the eyes, the small black beady eyes where no soul dwelled behind. This time he was also certain of something else. He felt no remorse at all.
