The fight between Day and Antoinette and Heloise's father was retold in many different ways over dinner. Some of the youngsters were convinced that Rivers had unleashed a tsunami on them and Day had burnt them to ashes. Actually, TNT and Day had dropped down, scaring away the 'little French army of cowardliness' as he called it and stealing their weapons. Dinner was fun, with food flying everywhere and a couple of explosions. Sky had created a miniature army of bunnies out of carrots (they started eating each other) and set them on TNT, who had blown up her plate. Jonny was trying to feed a fire-breathing baby, while Amelia held it down. Three boys -who I found out to be Amelia's brothers- were playing tricks on everyone with their powers. The eldest , Ollie, could turn into objects, and had cleverly disguised himself as a chair, so when Gemma tried to sit down, he sprang up and shouted at her for sitting on him. The second oldest , called Percy, was like a chameleon, so when someone thought a seat was empty, he'd reappear and scold them (their gags were mostly chair related, as you may tell). The youngest brother ,Nathan, was a shapeshifter and managed to convince me I was being kicked out by pretending to be Alexi.
Lights out was at ten, but I lay awake on my new bed, in my new room, in my new home. I had called my mum to tell her I wasn't coming back; she wasn't happy. When we came over from Mexico, we only had each other, then my sister passed away and my dad -a solider- was killed. That left just me and mum, I don't think she was ready to loose me too. I explained to her that I was going to learn to harness my powers and what the superheroes had done. She understood; I had been a burden on her for a long time, always experimenting with our apartment's gravity and getting bullied by the local kids. Now I was a weight lifted and she could stop worrying every time the phone rang. I promised to visit and said goodbye. It was the hardest thing I'd ever done.
After tossing and turning, I eventually got to sleep and my subconscious decided to wander. It was as though I was awake but I knew it was a dream; everything was faded and I was merely a shadow. I was in the house, but before it was blackened and burnt. In front of me, two people argued. The first was a large, proud woman with short black hair and angry blue eyes. Her face was like a ripe tomato; bright red and at the point of bursting. She wore silvery robes with a large 'T' emblazoned over the chest. I recognized her a the superhero Titaniuss; the invincible woman. The other was weedy man with thinning blond hair and intense gold eyes, pleading with her. He wore a stained lab coat and an oversized brown suit, "Please Elizabeth, I implore you to stay! Think of the children!" Around him were five young children, all with his blond hair; two girls and three boys. One of the girls and one of the boys had Elizabeth's eyes, the others had his golden ones. The oldest was a boy around twelve, the girls looked ten, and the younger boys were about eight. They all looked familiar, especially the girls.
"No, Harold! I'm done with you! And those retched children! Those girls actually told me being a villain is more worth while! They are evil! And you, you!" She turned to the eldest, "I cannot believe what you have become! All I ever wanted were perfect children! But no. I was stuck with this villainous scum! I am going to start a new family; a perfect family!"
"Lizzie... We need you. How am I supposed to control their powers? And what do you mean 'start another family'? You'd just abandon us and start again?!" He tried to stop her as she reached for her suitcase but she swatted the poor guy like a fly. Knowing hope was lost, he turned and walked away leading the kids with him. But one stayed behind, and I realized who it was; Day. She ran after her mother and pulled her to a stop, "Mother, I'm worried about Daddy's machine. It's dangerous. It could hurt him! And maybe even us."
"Do I look like I care, Adeline?" Adeline? Was that Day's actual name? "Your father and I are divorced. D-I-V-O-R-C-E-D. I no longer have to care for his safety or well being."
"What about me?! And Midas, and Alexi, and Sam, and Seth! You will let us die for your 'perfect family'. Well, you were never a mother to me. Only a monster!" She turned away and ran.
