I woke up to the sound of Blake Shelton's "O'l Red" blaring from my alarm clock. I looked at the time and the clock red in its big digital leters 3:00 AM. Then I remembered, we're going skiing! Excitement took place of sleepyness. I rolled out of bed, put on some yoga pants and a big blue t-shirt that read across the chest, Tiger's Club Softball. Then I trodded into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I attempted to run a brush through my long golden brown hair, but eventually gave up. I trudged down the stairs and walked into my living room littered with everything skiing you could ever imagine. Jackets, Ski pants, hats, gloves, goggles, helmets, masks, boots, and poles. My dad was in the kitched, whistling happily like it wasn't three o'clock in the morning.
"Morning sweety!" He said excitedly.
"Hi Dad."
"You excited?"
"Yep."
"Your brother's loading up the car, are you all ready to go?"
"Yea, don't we have to pick up Sierra and Maddie?" I asked.
"Yep, we'll leave in about 5 minutes, Ok?"
"Cool."
I grabbed a granola bar and ran upstairs to get my ipod. It wasn't a touch our anything, just a shuffle. I just needed it for music, not for apps. I put the earbuds in my ears turned up Luke Bryan's "Play it Again" I love this song.
Just as the song ended and I was about to click reapeat, Jordan my 10 year old brother, came running in the door. His cheecks were red from the cold.
"Can we go now Dad?" He whined.
"Yes, if Amber's ready."
"I'm ready." I said excitedly.
I climbed into my dad's big junky van and sat shotgun. After about 30 minutes of riding, we finally game to Sierra and Maddie's house. They were sisters, and they looked exacltly alike. Maddie was my age, 13, and Sierra was 11. We were best friends. Their dad, George, was my dad's best friend. We were all huge skiiers.
"Go inside and tell them to hurry up and get out here, Amber." My dad said jokingly.
I nodded and ran up to their huge front door and used the knockers.
"Its open!" A muffled voice said from inside.
I opended the front door and walked inside.
"George! Move your butt so we can leave!" I shouted as loud as I could.
"You really should be more respectful to me, killer." He smirked. Killer was his cheesy nickname for me because whenever Maddie, Sierra, and I would play Revenge of the Freaks (the best video game ever) I would always kill anything that got in my way. Hence, the name killer.
"Nah" I said and giggled.
"MADDIE, SIERRA, AMBER'S HERE!" George shouted.
I heard two sets of footsteps coming down the stairs, followed by alot of squealing.
"Amber!" Maddie and Sierra said at the same time. Maddie was wearing black sweatpants and the same t-shirt I was. We were both on the Tiger's club softball leaugue. Maddie was the best pitcher in the whole league, and I was a great hitter and fielding combo. Sierra was wearing black Yoga pants and her Tiger's t-shirt, too. She was on the 12u team. Maddie and I are on the 14u team.
"You guys ready?"
"Yea!" She said excitedly.
"Lezzgo!" I said and started walking out the door. We climbed into the very back of the van where there were three cramped seats. Maddie climbed in the middle, and Sierra and I sat on either side of her. We chatted excitedly until George came out with three sets of skiis and a bunch of huge bags full of ski equipment and loaded them into the trunk.
"Carve Mountain here we come!" My dad said excitedly.
On the way there we all did different things to try to pass the time. It took 11 hours to get there! Sierra alternated from sleeping, playing Candy Crush on her iphone, listening to rap music (ugh), and reading Divergent, the book I reccommended her. Maddie slept the whole time, while I listened to all the country music you could think of. My favorites were among Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Billy Currington, Brett Eldridge, Toby Kieth, Tim Mcgraw, and Kasey Musgraves. After about 9 hours of driving, we stopped at Culvers, our favorite restaurant ever.
After we filled our bellies with Butterburgers, I fell asleep for the last 2 hours.
I was shooken awake violently by Jordan.
"Get offa me freak! I'm awake." I said through giggles.
"WE"RE HERE!" He said excitedly. Finally, I thought.
We carried all of our stuff in and checked in. Sierra, Maddie, and I were sharing a rom, while my dad, George, and Jordan had their room right next to ours. We walked into our room which had three little beds scrunched together against the wall. Next to each bed there was a small little dresser, just big enough to fit each of our clothes. Against the wall across from the bed were 4 coat holders. The first one was mine, and I hung up everything I need for skiing. Maddie and Sierra did the same thing with the next two coat holders. We put our skiis and boots under the last rack.
Even though it was only like 2 in the afternoon everyone was exhausted from the long drive. We decided to hit the hay early. I drifted off dreaming about the slopes and glistening snow.
