We Have To Do It

Amazing, the Pantheon one one of my favorite things!!! Being in Rome, Italy at the Pantheon was just... Wow!! "Amanda,where are you?!?" My mother screamed. I ran around the people trying to find my family. I ran into a boy about 13 maybe 12. He just acted like I wasn't there. I quickly stood back up and followed my moms voice. I saw her!! When I closed my eyes hugging her there was this explosion.

When I opened my eyes my alarm clock was going off. I sat up slowly trying to remember what happened in my dream. Ugh, I always hated having dreams like that. Well, anyway I'm Amanda Northwood and I'm in 6th grade. I go to Christoval Junior High. My life is going normal. Having to get up at 6:30 am every morning to go to school, getting to school, and doing crap. "Come on, Mandi hurry up!!" I heard my 17 year old brother, Zachary, yell at me. So, I climbed down from my bed, put some fresh clothes on, and went to the bathroom to finish up. Once I get done I walk into the kitchen to get some breakfast. My brother walks in and slides a knife towards me. "Um, Zachary what is this for? Why do I need at knife? Oh my god, this is the knife dad gave you." I said. Our dad was in the navy. We haven't seen him in about a year. My brother looked at me and sighed, "Since I'm going to college soon I wanted you to have this. I think you will need it for something, but I'm sure what it is yet. Mandi you have to make sure no one sees it at school. Ok?" I nodded. I hugged him so hard worried what was going to happen.

Walking through the hall at school going to band was the first thing I did when I got to school. Mr White our teacher didn't like us being late so I had to hurry. I play percussion and so do and few other kids in my grade. When I walked into the band hall my best friend, Taylor came over and was wondering why I was so late. "I overslept." I said. In the middle of band we heard the siren saying there was an intruder in the building. We all got down on the floor and Mr.White turned the lights off. My friends and I thought that since it was the beginning of the year it was just the drug dog. We were probably sitting there for 20 mins when we heard the bell for brunch. Me and My cousin, Jason were worried because it never takes the drug dog this long. I crawled over to the door and looked out.

"Mandi!!!!! Wake up!! Mandi!" I heard Jason scream. When I opened my eyes I saw Jason shaking me. He asked if I was okay. All I could do was sit up and nod. The room was still black. I also could tell everyone was around me except this girl named Lexi. I absolute hate her, she is always rude and takes advantage of people. She was sitting at the other side of the room texting. "Hey Mandi, can you hear me?" Jason asked. I tried to say I wanted to stand up, but all I could say was yes. I tried to stand up, but fell back down and Jason caught me. I thought I could talk now so I said "How long have I been out?" Jason still looked worried but said "Probably about 15-20 mins. When we went to look out the door what did you see?" I heard my heard my heart beating in my ears. "I-I saw my grandparents..." I started crying nonstop. Everyone was silent. "Why are you crying?" my friend Madelyn asked. I knew my grandparents were dead. "They both died a few months back." Jason said starting to tear up. "If they are dead then why- oh my gosh I'm so sorry Mandi." Madelyn said sadly. Jason and I hugged and cried for a few minutes. "Look I will go back over and see if there is anything else." My cousin said. I came with him.

All I could see was my grandmother with white skin. Her eyes were as black as coal and it looked like she had she had dried blood all around her mouth. It looked like she had a bite on the neck. There were other like her around. Then one popped up in front of the window. I jumped and was about to scream, but Jason put his hand over my mouth. "what happened to them?" I asked Jason.

"Let me get this straight, those people got hit or scratched and turned into zombies...?" A girl named Kendall in my grade asked. Jason looked at her and nodded. Everyone started freaking out. I stood up on a chair and said "Alright, I know everyone is confused and scared. We need to stay relatively quiet. If we make too much noise those walkers will hear. They will bite and kill." Lexi stood up and said, "Who put you in charge?" Jason got really mad and went over to Lexi and whispered "Why don't you shut the heck up!!" He walked back over back to where I was. "Dude, I can stand up for myself." I told him. He ignored me. I got back down and sat down on he ground. Something poked me in the thigh. I looked in my pocket and remembered Zachary gave me a knife. Jason saw it and stared at me. I told him my brother gave it to me. I thought maybe I could the walkers outside out with my knife. But what if there is more and I get bit. Taylor came over and told me that our friends Venus and Clayton weren't there yet. I thought I was gonna cry. Jason looked at me and I could tell that he was sad too. I looked out the window again and Jason went with me. We looked around to see if we could see them.
