Gerard sat in the back of French class, bored. He was reading his Batman comic that he bought yesterday, and this was his last class of the day, so he wasn't paying attention. Just waiting for it to be over.
"Last Friday, I was talking to a friend I know in Paris," Mr. James said. "And they're class was learning English. And then we had an idea, that we should have pen pals." He smiled. The class groaned, some were excited, speaking to someone in a different continent sounded cool.
To Gerard it sounded stupid. Nobody liked him, so what would a snobby french rich kid think about him?
"This is worth 70 percent of your grade," Mr.James started coming around, passing adresses out. Along with envelopes. "You will be required to mail these adresses." He dropped the paper and envelope on Gerard's desk.
"You have a nice young lady, Mr. Way. Very talented."
Gerard slouched in his seat, reading the paper.

Gerard stared at the sheet of paper.
"You are to write your letter before the bell rings, or it's homework." And everybody started moving they're pencils across they're papers. Nobody wants homework on the weekend, right?
And Gerard started to write.
Hey
I'm guessing your my pen pal partner, and I'm supposed to write you a letter about myself.
My name is Gerard Way, I like to sing and draw, seems legit. Oh, and I paint.
I live in New Jersey with my parents and my brother, Mikey. He's in middle school and he plays bass, like you, im guessing? I listen to The Misfits, and Black Flag. And other bands. But you probably hate them. Uh, I hope you learn English. And reply back soon...?
Gee.
He wrote the period, and the bell rung, signaling that school was over. Gerard folded the letter, and stuffed it in the envelope, he wrote the address on it and handed it to the teacher.
Gerard only thought one thing before he left the class.
He hope she likes The Misfits.
