How it all Began

When the apocalypse began we were in the auditorium, now the human populating, as far as we know, consists of a small group of teens.  We called ourselves survivors but now we're not so sure.  Our group consists of the geometry students and a few lucky seventh graders, who had just escaped the 'zombies', our only way of knowing what had occurred about two hours ago.

They had said that they would go announce the five minute warning and that we could leave when it was over but it had been ten minutes since then and people were worrying.  My own friend was watching the clock and counting down the seconds.  Just then around fifteen seventh graders ran into the auditorium and immediately attempting to barricade the doors.

"Help us, please!"

They were saying, a few were crying.  It was sad really, had we known then we wouldn't have laughed at their tears, and maybe then more of us would have gotten up and come to their aid.  Shame a few were already dead.  As soon as all the entrances to the auditorium were blocked and 'zombie' safe the younger students launched into their stories of woe.  Know now that very few of us believed them for a few minutes after they finished.

"We were sitting peacefully in our extended homeroom for a while but all of us began feeling ill or in pain as if our bodies were warning us to leave our classes..."   It was crowded in the nurses office, as though an entire classroom had come down.  We sat there and waited patiently as people fainted and changed hues before our eyes.  That was our first cue to run, but we didn't pay it much attention.  We watched as the darker tones hued down to match the palest of them all, and eventually turning to a dark grey.  Still we did not run from them.  There were moans hanging in the air now, it wasn't until one of them bit the teachers that we ran, and boy did we run!  We ran at top speed towards the largest room that was within a close distance.  ' Did you hear what they were talking about?'  ' Yeah it was that the teacher had been the only person to give them food that day .'

All of a sudden a distant moan was heard and a few girls burst into tears.
