Chapter 10:Conversations Lead To Lost Phones
I'm currently sitting in my third period social studies class, bored out of my mind.
The bell rang five minutes ago but Mrs.Carter didn't pay it any attention and instead decided to keep droning on and on about The Great Depression.
She knows that we already learned about this in middle school-because we told her yesterday(the first day she started boring us to death with lessons about TGD)- but because Kennedy and her annoying friends are always so loud in Mrs.Carter's class, we quote on quote,"Had to be taught a lesson(literally) because this type of behavior couldn't go un-punished." So, this is our punishment. Thanks a lot Kennedy, Marcy, Darcy, and Lindsay; note the sarcasm.
Suddenly the loud speaker crackled to life and the voice of the one and only Parker Alex Reed said the words,"Principal Buttcannon," she laughed into the microphone then continued,"Sorry, I mean Principal Bucannon wanted me to tell you all that-" A loud noise was heard in the background.
Parker said,"What the hell, Kelsey, get the crap out of here!"
"Sorry," a voice I recognized as Kelsey Andrew's.
"Anyway,"Parker started," Before Kelsey interrupted me, what I was saying was that Principal Bucannon wants all 12th graders to report to the auditorium right now. That includes your class Mrs.Farter, sorry, I mean Mrs.Carter. So get y'alls asses down here now for the special announcement our "beloved" principal wants to make."
I could imagine the smirk on Parker's face when she purposely messed up Mrs.Carter's name.
Nobody really called her that but now that Parker reminded us of the name that the soccer captain of last year, Lee Wall, made up, everyone will probably start calling her that behind her back.
The kids who don't really give a shit about getting in trouble, the kind who roll with Parker, might risk saying that to her face.
We quickly filed out into the hallway, eager to here away from Mrs.Carter and her boring lessons.
Most of us wanted to know what our Principal wanted to tell us but the odd few of us were more interested in finding out why it was Parker delivering the message instead of Amy Reynolds, the goody goody girl. The group that wondered the latter included me.
••••••••••••
When we entered the auditorium we saw that pretty much everyone else was already sitting down.
"Ah, Mrs.Carter's class. So nice of y'all to join us,"our principal drawled. "Please sit."
Once I was seated I looked up at the stage closer than I had earlier when Mr.Bucannon had addressed us, and was surprised to see that Cassidy, Parker, and Lewis were up there.
"Now, Parker and Lewis have a secret. Some of you know what it is. I know what it is. Cassidy knows what it is. Because of how popular they are, if this secret gets out it might distract everyone from their studies. I don't want that so I decided to hold this assembly. Now, please pay attention to Lewis."
"So only a few people knew about this but, Parker and I had been dating for about a month and a half," Lewis stated, leaving me completely shell-shocked.
I mean he doesn't know that I currently like Parker but in sixth grade I staked my claim on her to him, and because Lewis and I had been best-friends since we were 5, we were pretty competitive against each other.
