A/N: Guess what! It's Olli's birthday today! He just turned 33 years old, so make sure you send him birthday wishes when you get the chance. :)
With mascara stinging my eyes, makeup running down my swollen face, and my sentences sounding like babbles, I explained to Beverly in the car everything that had happened. She made me repeat some parts due to the fact I could barely speak normal English.
"Let me summarize, so I can understand this correctly," she said. "You fucked Olli Herman....You literally fucked Olli Herman. I knew it was going to happen...! Did he have a big dick?"
"Bev!" I shouted with a squeaky voice.
"I just want to know!" she said in her defense. "What was it like?"
"This isn't important!"
"Just answer my question."
"Yes! It was big! Ok?!" I sighed in frustration.
She paused, staring at the road and mischievously smirking. "It must've been golden if you're crying over it."
"Oh, my God! Stop it!"
"Hey, I'm just trying to make you laugh. You're down in the dumps, and I can't have my fam feeling that way."
"Newsflash: it's not working!"
I wiped away the makeup around my eyes with a tissue. It burned too much to even blink. Through all the hardships, Beverly would find effective ways to console me. This one, however, only fed my anger. She had a warm heart, but I didn't need to be reminded of his...area.
"Ok," she said, taken aback. "So you fucked Olli last night, went to breakfast this morning, had a good time, and then you were rejected when you asked for something more. Did he say it was going to be anything more than sex last night?"
"No," I said hesitantly. "He said he wanted to be loved just that one night."
"You mean you knew this would happen."
"Yes."
"Sasha, I love you, and I'm sorry you're heartbroken, but you saw it coming. Couldn't you have prepared for it?"
"I did prepare, but Olli said something to me that made me drop my guard."
"And what might that be?"
I took a deep breath, trying to swallow back the stress lump within my throat. "'I'm going to make love to you tonight.'"
Her eyebrows lifted. "Ah! That old-fashioned phrase used to woo the heart! But why would he make love to you if he wanted a one-night stand?"
"I don't know. I'm so confused! He left abruptly before I could ask him that question."
"Girl, men are confusing creatures. If Jeremy didn't teach you that, I don't think you'd ever learn."
"Jeremy never toyed with my heart. He just didn't figure out what he wanted to do with his life. Olli, on the other hand, told me what he wanted, but his words and actions contradicted it. He was so loving that I assumed he changed his mind....Oh, Beverly! It hurts so badly!"
"I know it does, but you're going to have to stay strong. Don't let him bring you down! I got your back; I refuse to leave you tormented like this! This might sound inconsiderate to say, so please don't take offense, but I'm so damn relieved you're going through this rather than what I had in mind when you called me in a panic."
"Huh?" I questioned nasally.
"You didn't text me last night like I told you to, and you haven't responded to any of my texts and calls. I thought something serious might've happened to you. Didn't get much sleep last night because I worried about you."
"Neither did I. I'm sorry I kept you waiting."
I placed my elbow on the ledge of the passenger door handle and leaned my cheek against my fist. The tears had ceased, but my feelings remained the same. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught Beverly checking out my neck.
"If you didn't notice, you have hickeys along your neck and shoulder. I'd advise you to leave your hair down today. It looks kind of trashy."
"Keep your eyes on the road," I grumbled.
She had nothing else to say to me about the situation. Beverly was never one to take comfort in silence, so when we pulled up to a red traffic light, she plugged her phone into the auxiliary cable.
"Let's put on some music," she said with a smile, hit shuffle, and pressed play.
The song kicked in. "She made me feel like a virgin livin' dirty dreams."
Immediately, I glared at her, giving her the dirtiest look.
"Uh, let me change that," she said, fumbling with her phone to skip to the next song. "Sorry."
********
"Hey," Beverly said as I got out of the car. She turned the volume down on the song "The Darkest Side of the Night" by Metropolis, so I could hear her. "You sure you're going to be alright?"
"Yeah," I replied softly. "I just need to be alone right now."
"Ok. Call me if you need me."
I nodded and closed the door. Stepping inside my house, all I wanted to do was go up to my bedroom and take a nap. Taylor didn't need me at work until noon, so I would just lounge around until I felt better. The bedsheets hugged me as the waterworks started up again. I gripped my yellow body pillow tight, wetting it with tears and snot. To make matters worse, my shoulders and neck ached from the bruises left behind. Nothing like the remnants of something you thought was meaningful.
My phone rang, vibrating the nightstand. Picking it up, I saw it was my mom calling.
"Mom?"
"Happy birthday to you!" I heard both my mother and father sing. "Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, dear Sasha! Happy birthday to you!"
"I'm sorry we didn't call you yesterday," Mom said. "Beverly told us you would be busy, so we decided to wait till now."
"It's ok." I sniffled.
"Honey, what's wrong?" Mom asked, concerned. "I can hear the tightness in your voice."
"Just some guy."
"Do I need to lay a few punches into this 'some guy' for hurting my daughter?" Dad said, his voice getting deeper.
"No, he doesn't deserve that. I shouldn't have given him the time of day."
"Pumpkin, whoever breaks your heart doesn't deserve you or your tears. I'm positive you'll be happier without him than with him. Stay on the bright side; it'll get better."
I smiled a little bit. "Thanks, Dad."
"No problem, pumpkin."
"Honey, we got a present coming for you in the mail," Mom said. "It should be at your door tomorrow. Maybe that'll cheer you up!"
"I'm excited to see it."
"You'll be even more excited to open it! Did your sister call?"
"Yes, Carla called early yesterday morning."
"Good, good. Just making sure. Well, honey, your father and I have to be going. I hope you enjoy your day."
"I'll try my best. Maybe work can clear my mind."
"I hope so," Dad said. "We love you, pumpkin. Don't be afraid to call if you need anything."
"I won't, and I love you both, too."
