Lauren wasn't easy to get along with.

Often times she would demand time to herself and then complain when no one would want to hang out with her. Camila seemed to be the only one willing to put up with Lauren. All throughout high school, Camila was there hanging out when Lauren wanted and leaving her alone on Lauren's request. Her love for the girl made her patient, and made her kind. She was never short with Lauren or complained if they didn't see each other that much during the week. Love made you do crazy things, and Camila called herself the craziest.

They started dating their junior year, but kept quiet about it because that's what Lauren wanted. They didn't have sex for months because that's what Lauren wanted. They didn't go to prom even though Camila dreamed of going because that's what Lauren wanted. What Lauren wanted, she got.

Dinah told her time and time again to leave Lauren. Camila didn't know how. Dinah tried helping her leave out of the apartment, but Camila couldn't make it past the front door. There was something about Lauren that Camila just couldn't get away from. She considered that it was the fact that she was in love with Lauren, she'd do anything for her. Dinah had said she needed to think for herself from time to time.

But doing anything for Lauren was thinking for herself. Lauren was her everything.

Normani had said their relationship was borderline abusive. Camila didn't understand how, but Normani kept saying it was Lauren's emotional detachment in the relationship. Camila didn't understand that, either, but the conversation was always dropped. She knew Normani had just wanted the best for her.

All of her friends wanted the best for her.

Ally was nicest about it. She didn't approve of the relationship and always watched as Camila interacted with Lauren with caution. Some days Lauren would communicate back, while other days, she just didn't bother.

Camila was just so in love with Lauren, she looked past these incidents.

One thing Camila never understood was how Lauren wasn't very close to her family. They rarely called each other, and when they did, the conversations were never longer than five minutes. Camila called her mom at least every other day, if not every day. She was very close to her family and to hear someone was not close to theirs was a foreign concept. Nevertheless, Camila didn't let it bother her as she continued living with and dating Lauren. She knew every relationship had their ups and downs and no matter what, Lauren would stick by her.

She was sure of it.

"Lauren, babe, I'm heading to the store!" Camila called into the rest of the apartment. She didn't know where exactly her girlfriend was, but she knew she was somewhere in the mess. She sighed softly when she didn't hear a reply, but as she turned to step out the door, she heard Lauren's raspy voice call back a reply.

"Pick up my beer, please."

Camila bit her lip and stepped out of the apartment, waiting until the door shut behind her until she let out the breath she had been holding. Recently, Lauren had picked up the nasty habit of drinking. Quite a lot, too, if Camila was being honest with herself. She knew Lauren had her problems and the current way of doing it was drinking. As long as she didn't try leaving the apartment, Camila never had much of a problem with it. Of course, Camila never stated her distaste for Lauren's drinking out loud. Some days were worse than others and she didn't want to be on the wrong end of one of Lauren's tantrums.

The walk to the grocery store wasn't a long one, but if the dark clouds that started gathering above was anything to go by, Camila needed to be quick. Even if it wasn't far from their place, Camila had silently cursed herself for not driving the car. Even if she was quick in and out, she had a feeling she'd still get caught in the rain, and she figured Lauren had drank the last of her beer that evening. Her shoes squeaked almost silently as she hurried through the grocery store, grabbing bread, chips, lunch meat, apples, and Lauren's beer. It was just a quick trip to make it through the rest of the week, but Camila had wished she waited a day. She hated walking through the rain, but she had to deal with it.
