"Hey! Would you mind marrying me?" this is the best proposal ever! Here I am again, watching my all-time favorite movie. Actually, this is the tenth time na papanoorin ko ang pelikulang ito kaya naman almost memorized ko na ang bawat lines. At this moment, ginagaya ko- I mean namin, ang bawat linyang binibitiwan ng mga characters.

"Let me think. Um . . . Ofcourse! I would mind marrying you." pangga-gaya ko naman sa linya nung lead actress.

"Really? Akala ko talaga hindi ka papayag." uh-oh.

"Wait," I said as I leaned forward toward the table and grabbed the remote to mute the television. "Anong sinabi mo?" pagta-tanong ko sa kanya matapos kong i-mute ang telebisyon.

"Yung 'Hey! Would you mind marrying me?' ba?"

"Hindi, yung sinabi mo pagka-tapos mong sabihin yan."

"Ah . . ." he said when he realized what i meant. "Yung 'Really?  Akala ko talaga hindi ka papayag.' ba?"

"Exactly. But, what do you mean by that?" pero bago pa man niya masagot ang tanong ko ay tumalikod ako mula sa kanya and I unmuted the tv and pretended na manonood ulit. Natatakot ako sa isasagot ko sa kanya.

I heard him sighed. I muted the tv, again. "That's not even part of the script. That's-"

He cut me off at natahimik na lang ako. "Jewell, that is exactly the point. I can't stand this set up anymore. I want an upgrade. Gusto ko next time na papanoorin ulit natin ang movie na ito ay married na tayo-or kahit engaged man lang. Because kagaya ni Leo, I want a happy ever after with you." well, si Leo, siya yung lead character sa movie. Ang destined para kay Virgo.

"So, are you gonna marry me or what?"

"I . . . don't know?" hindi ako sigurado sa isasagot ko sa kanya kaya naman ang naisagot ko na lng sa tanong niya ay isa ring tanong.

"What?" nagulat siya. Was he expecting me to say yes? As in agad-agad? Oh, no. "Are you happy with me?" he sounded so desperate. 

"Oo, pero-"

"Do you love me?"

Hindi ko masagot ng maayos ang mga tanong niya. Nasa state of shock pa rin ako.  At isa pa, this is the first time that he asked me if i love him. Ni hindi nga ako naga-'I love you'  sa kanya kapag sinasabi niyang mahal niya ako. So, ano nang isasagot ko sa kanya?

"Mahal mo ba ako?" he kept his face and voice smooth. Pero nakikita ko sa mga mata niya ang pagtataka. "Mahal mo ba ako?" he repeated his question again.

"Mahal kita, pero-" 

"Pero ano?"

"Pero . . ." come on Jewell,mag-isip ka ng isang magandang excuse. Anong palusot? "Pero, kung yayayain mo akong magpakasal sayo at kung papayag ako, siguro naman karapatan ng Mama ko na malaman, diba?" good one.

"Sure, sure." effective. Hindi ako sanay na magtago ng sikreto.

"I better call my mom now."

Dali-dali akong tumakbo papunta sa kuwarto ko which happen to be my room. Pero bago ako pumasok I reminded him to...

"Freeze ka muna. Don't move." I said in my bossy but teasing voice.

"O . . . kay. Ma'am" while he made his voice sound like he was really freezing.

Pagpasok ko sa kuwarto ay agad kong kinuha sa drawer ang phone ko.

I dialed my mom's number.

"Hi, ma,"
