Alyssia was worried. Why should she not when she was committing treason? Or so claimed the laws of the country she was currently in, and just because she was a princess didn't mean she would get of scot free. If Rosilda and her were caught she would be banished from the country, as would the whole of her family, and as for her darling Rose...no it was just too terrible for words!
But even though Lyssie was incredibly worried for their safety, she couldn't keep herself away from Rose, however hard she tried. And she had tried. She'd spend time away from Rose and she found herself longing for Rose. Lyssie knew that if they could get just away from the twelve kingdoms they could be safe with each other forever.
The twelve kingdoms were surrounded by a wall, which enclosed them, and beyond the wall was the free world, a place who accepted homosexuality, women's rights and other things that were close to Lyssie's heart. Growing up she had been taught that beyond the Great Wall was a wilderness where savages roamed, but she had now meant Prince Hoccar of Chapasian and found out so much about the land beyond the Great Wall.
Lyssie's parents knew of her homosexuality, but tried to cover it up from the citizens of Caeprasal. Homosexuality was a crime punishable by death in any of the twelve kingdoms, as was promoting women's rights, and things such as that, but Lyssie's parents didn't like the idea of Lyssie being executed. You might be mistaken for thinking this was out of love, but really it was because they believed (rightly so) that if a member of the royal family was executed the people would believe the royal family was corrupt (which it actually was, but for some reason everyone was fine with that, unless a member of it was discovered to be homosexual) and start a revolution. Nothing was more important to the royal family of Caeprasal than their throne.
If it was discovered that Lyssie was homosexual then the Caeprasalian royal family would be banished from the kingdoms of Ipance and Orthrany for their lifetimes, and when Lyssie returned to Caeprasal she would almost certainly be executed.
Rose and Lyssie would have to be careful for the moment, and begin to plan their escape.
