Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."
Senior year had finally arrived. I had been campaigning the year before to win Senior Class President. My prayers were heard and my hard work paid off after being told that I won by a landslide. To add to my excitement, I received a call a few weeks later, notifying me that I would be the Head Girl of my high school. To say that I was happy would be a gigantic understatement. I am Jada Brown, prettiest and smartest girl in my Senior Class. Being President and Head Girl is not an easy task, especially while trying to fill out applications to get into Ivy Leagues Law Schools.
While filling out an application, I notice my boyfriend, Damien heading towards me. He always decides to talk to me when I'm busy.
"Hey Jada boo." my boyfriend greets me in the cafeteria for lunch.
"Hey hun." I replied, kissing him on his cheek.
"What are you up to? Wanna grab a bite to eat so we can talk about your 19th birthday?" He asked, taking a seat next to me.
"I can't right now because I'm behind in my college applications." I replied sadly.
"Since senior year started, we barely spend time together." He said.
"I know and I'll try to change things between us after I knock out all of this work." I said, knowing that won't happen any time soon.
"Well get back to your work. I'll hit you up later." He sighed defeated.
I continued doing my work as he walked away. I was sad that I had no time for my boyfriend but I couldn't change things and risk not being on my A game at all times. I got close to my boyfriend, Damien during study hours we would have after school. We were just friends when my teacher asked me to help him with his Math work. We started having study dates and we grew to like each other. Damien is a really sweet guy and he is really smart but at times he can be lazy and that's why he doesn't work to his full potential. I really like him but lately, I haven't been able to spend any time with him. It's obvious that he feels neglected but I have to do what I have to do.
Two weeks went by and I had barely talked to Damien so I decided to put aside my work for a while so that we could spend some time together. I texted him so that he could meet me at Outback for a bite to eat.
10 minutes passed. 15 minutes passed. 20 minutes passed. 30 minutes passed.
Was he just not going to show up....?
