Chapter 10/Meeting Valka

Hiccup

Uh, why does he ever listen to me? I knew that it was hard trying to convince the Chief of Berk, who is also my father. Toothless sees my frustration and tries to comfort me. "Thanks for trying to cheer me up, bud. But you know how hard for me to get his attention of what I say." Toothless suddenly felt protective and I thought that it was Dad again. I said, "Aw, com'on, Dad, really?" I suddenly realized that the one who is following us isn't the Chief of Berk. I thought it was Astrid looking at me. The Rider disappears and I said, "All right, bud. No sudden moves." A new dragon appears with it's Rider. It seems like he was wearing a mask to hide his true identity. I was so confused and in awe of this new dragon, that a wild dragon took me off from Toothless! "Toothless!" I cried in horror as the Night fury was falling into the water below.

This man is very strange. Why is he riding on the top of a Night Fury? I have to find out. I took the Rider off of his saddle and the man cries, "Toothless!" Toothless? He named that dragon himself? I decided to find out more about him. I led him to my home and the Rider was struggling, "Hey, you left my dragon back there! He can't fly on his own, he'll drown!" I was surprised that he cares about dragons as much as I do. The dragon who kidnapped him gently put him down. He said, "Uh, we have to go back for my dragon!" The dragons were curious and he got out his sword and he spun it around to protect himself with the Nightmare fire. As the the flames died down, he was not afraid. He walks towards one of the dragons and he was about to train it! I have to confront this man. When he saw me, he asks, "Who are you? Do you know what I'm saying?" I pound my staff to signal the dragon to bring the Night Fury. "Toothless!" The man said with happiness. "It's ok, it's ok." The Night Fury licks him and the man continued, "You really got me worried there for a while." I was quite amazed of him. I wanted to get a closer look. I signaled the dragons to give me some light. The dragons obeyed and the Night Fury wraps his tail to protect his Rider. I slowly drop my staff and shield and I passed the Night Fury out with his pressure point. The Rider watches in shock then starts to back away from me but as I look closer, I recognized the scar that Cloudjumper did. It couldn't be. I back up and asks, "Hiccup?"

Wait, did this Rider say my name? "Uh..." I said. The Rider removes her mask and said, "Could it be? After all these years... How is this even possible?" I asked, "Uh, should-Should I know you?" The woman seemed to be in awe of me then quickly said, "No. You were only a babe. But a mother never forgets." I gasped. This is my long -lost mother?!? She notices my expression. " Sh. Come." I followed her, "Wait, hold on! Wait just a minute!" "This way, Hiccup." She instructs me. I said, "You can't say something like that, and run off! You are my mother? Do you have any idea how crazy that sounds?" She said, "Up here." I said, looking up, "I have a lot of questions! Where you been all this time? What you been doing? I know that Nita been living with... " I hear Dragons and I was in total amazement. There was dragons living in peace as if this place was a Dragon Sanctuary. Mom clears her throat and I see her with her dragon looking at us. "This is where you've been for twenty years?" She nods. "Incredible." "You're not surprised." "Oh, I am. It's not everyday you find out that your mother is a feral vigilante dragon lady. I have a friend who is similar to you, that's why I'm not that surprised." "Oh. So, you have a Night Fury." I nodded, "Mom, meet Toothless." Toothless grins.
