Author's note:
Some parts of this one shot story is based on my bitter-sweet story... the rest are just product of my imagination. I hope you will enjoy it. Thanks!
Working in a Publication as an editor is never easy because there are tons of paper works every day, stress, deadlines and the people there?... They are always on the rush so I adapted that daily scenario.
It was Monday morning, September 02 when my boss asked me if I can go to Cebu and meet Ian Somerset, an international showbiz personality and interview him for a features article of our latest magazine issue. I certainly agreed because, at last! I can have at least 3 days to rest in a very much relaxing place although I still have to work there.
At exactly 7:00 p.m. I am already at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City and based on my schedule, I will be meeting up Mr. Somerset at 11 a.m. tomorrow therefore I can still settle myself in the Hotel room and tour the near places. It’s my first time to be here so I’m excited to go around the place while working. After having my dinner in Victoria’s I went straight to my room. 4th floor room 2009 a business suite. It has a queen size bed, a 42 inches LED T.V, personal fridge & a veranda with a coffee table and 2 chairs; perfect for my working hours.
I went to the restaurant in the hotel to meet him, I was stunned upon seeing him in the restaurant from a far… he’s lesser than a god but really gorgeous.
“Good morning, Ms. Johanne Santillan I’m Priscilla Maryville, Mr. Somerset’s Executive Assistant. He is waiting for you inside.”
“How long is he waiting? Am I late? I checked my wrist watch but, I was just right. It's only 10:30 a.m.
“No, he’s just early because he’s really like that. So are you ready?”
“Of course, let’s go. By the way, I have two crews with me are they allowed?”
“Yes, of course.”
The 1st part of our job was done at 7p.m. and the whole team of Mr. Somerset invited us for an exclusive dinner at the restaurant. We called the day at 10 p.m. and rest. The next day was the photo shoot and another set of interview with him and the rest of the crew. The next hours were the writing, editing, rewriting, re-editing and the final writing then lay-outing of the page. I immediately sent the finished articles to the office thru email. After Lunch time, we packed up and proceed to the Cebu Domestic Airport. We landed at NAIA, at exactly 18:00. After a week we already had everything done and ready for publishing. After the successful press release, my boss gave me 2 weeks leave with a bonus pay. I went back to my hometown in Laguna. I visited some friends and relatives there and had fun with my cousins. There’s really no place like home.
September 17, Tuesday, I went to my Alma Mater, LSPU-SCC, I visited my old friends and folks there as well as my professors back when I was in college. I went to the publication office to visit my former co-staffers and of course, our dearest Chair, Ma’am Zeny. I was really happy that nothing much changed, I know some people there although there a few of them who are strangers to me… I went to the table where I used to work. I really missed the place, my work and the people there.
I was asked by one of my former co- staffers, who is now the E-I-C to do a feature article so I did. I was writing when a familiar voice caught my attention yet since I was busy, I never really mind who he was. I continued writing but then, to my surprise, it’s Scy. He handed me a cupcake with a little bite. I put that on my table having the mindset of eating that later.
I was astounded when he asked me why am I sad. Was I? I didn’t know all I know is I had mixed emotion upon seeing him after two years. I still have the feelings yet it’s not as strong as before. May be because two years is long enough for me to realized many things and mature as well. I’m no longer the teenager who was madly in love with him.
After writing, I had a small talk with him. He told me his story and so I did mine. He's already a successful man in his chosen field, I.T and he is also married to his "special girl" way back when we were in college. He never changed as a friend to me and after those years, I never realized that he would still call me the way he used to 2 years ago "Mommy Bear"
It was already dark when we parted and went on our separate ways. I was driving my car wheen I suddenly realized that it was the date when I teased him saying, "Carlos Saludes, yuck pand matanda talaga ang pangalan mo." LOL
“Hoy, wag mo ngang ginaganyan ang pangalan ko, balang araw, magiging apelyido mo rin ng apelyido ko.”
I smiled upon recalling that memory and I just realized, that cupcake was our Anniversary Cupcake.
* Thanks for reading! I'm still thinking if I should continue this story or not. What do you think? :)
