Cathar is a tiny, peaceful village high above the clouds, watched over by an elder of Cathar and the legendary Grand Guru. Getting to the village requires an air ship that can withstand strong winds and dragon attacks. The entrance to Cathar shows a tall, red, wooden gate with a greeting from a spittle-ful boy. Continuing in, a small house hangs on an edge of the cliff the village sits on, pass the house on the left is a small farming area, a few shops, and a lookout platform. On the right is another gate that is used for guild hunters to go on quests. The back of the village holds a melding shop, surrounded by flags constantly fluttering in the wind, a giant pin wheel slowly turning, and a long wooden bridge leading to a temple for high authority.
Although the village lives in peace, they fear the activities that goes on on a large nearby mountain the villagers call Heaven's Mount. Heaven's Mount is where most of Cathar's suppliers and materials come from but is also home to all kinds of beasts from the small, persistence, poisonous wyvern Iodeprey to the electrifying wyvern lightning wolf Zinogre, to the fire breathing, red dragon wyvern Rathalos. Only hunters from the guild dare set foot in Heaven's Mount to fight the monsters.
The biggest threat and greatest fear is a dragon of pure white and gold scales that infiltrated a sacred shrine of the mountain, its name unknown. The monster is said to spread a virus that drives the other monsters insane, attacking their own kind of a beast 10 times bigger than them. This dragons shows up in the shrine every 20 year, causing a month of chaos for Cathar's villagers. The higher ups in the guild in Dundorma gave orders to let the Ace hunters handle things, but they are never able to capture the mysterious dragon.
This year, the shiny creature seemed to be strangely calm and uncaring of whatever happens outside the shrine. It only attacks when humans enter the area to bother it. The Ace hunters decided this is the perfect time to try and capture it before it leaves for another 20 years. Four Ace hunters snuck into the sacred shine, carrying large barrel bombs, shock and pitfall trap, tranquilizer bombs and readied weapons. While the dragon lay sleeping, the hunters laid out the traps first, then the barrel bombs around them. The dragon soon sensed danger and moved from its resting place, slowly pounding it arms, legs, and the extra pair of arms in its wings to the ground, circling the hunter. Then it gave a loud, deafening roar, forcing the hunters to cover their ears. The fight began, hunters swing their heavy blades, the dragon clawing and trampling everything in its path. Eventually, the dragon grew tired and was heavily wounded from the fight, though it seemed to be fine. Unfortunately, the dragon flew away, the hunters unable to catch it. This is the last they would see of it for a long while.
The Ace hunters cursed their misfortune, laying on the ground exhausted and frustrated. After a moments rest they decided to pack up and go home. Before leaving, one of the four hunters decided to check the sleeping spot of the dragon for materials. Getting closer, the hunter noticed two large objects, kind of made like woven baskets. Shocked, the hunter called for the others to look at his discovery. In one basket, a bundle of berries and clumps of meat were found. In the other, a sobbing infant.
