Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters in this story except the beautiful woman. I guess I should give credit to the Greek for creating the Gods... but whatever...

Narrorator POV

As we all know, Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty. And a beauty she was! She was stunning, and she knew it too. She was also a bit vain. She was use to gaining attention from men, especially the gods. Aphrodite always thought that she was too good for everyone, so she would always turn them down.

One day as Aphrodite was standing proudly, soaking up all the compliments she received when suddenly, everything went quiet. All of the heads turned and as quickly as the noise stopped, it began again. But this time, it was not directed towards Aphrodite.

Aphrodite turned to see a young woman with impossible beauty! All of the men had gravitated towards her without thinking. Aphrodite was jealous. She was angry. She was humiliated. Aphrodite wanted revenge on the woman for stealing her spotlight.

Aphrodite immediately went to Mount Olympus to think about all the ways to expose of the young woman. She instantly thought of Nemesis, the goddess of revenge.

Aphrodite found Nemesis sitting on a rock by the river that led to Mount Olympus.

Aphrodite pled to Nemesis, "You have got to help me get rid of the young girl! She has stolen my rightful place in the center of attention!"

All Nemesis did was shrug her shoulders and said, "Revenge will only come to those who deserve it."

That frustrated Aphrodite, but what could she do? She decided to just wait for  the young woman to get what she deserved. Aphrodite spied on the girl for days. Days turning into weeks, weeks into months, but nothing happened.

Aphrodite went back to Nemesis, who was sitting on the same rock by the river as if she hadn't moved since they last spoke.

"You promised revenge, but nothing happened!" Aphrodite exclaimed, accusation in her voice.

Nemesis replied, "I promised no such thing. I said, 'Revenge will only come to those who deserve it.' If revenge did not come, obviously it was not deserved."

Aphrodite felt helpless. The people used to think she was beautiful. Now she was nothing. She felt normal. There was nothing she could do but watch. Everyday she watched behind the trees with jealousy, as the young woman gained all the admiration there was to offer.

As the days passed Aphrodite started getting use to the change. Her whole outlook on life changed as well. More often, she stopped to smell the roses. She took the time to see the inner beauty of everything instead of its physical appearance, but that didn't stop her from missing the way things were before. After all, she was the goddess of love and beauty.

Eventually the woman did pass on, and everything went back to normal. But Aphrodite will never forget the young woman who changed her life forever.

Aphrodite will never forget the beauty that beat the beauty.
