The sunlight shone in my face, almost blinding me when Zeke pushed open one of the doors to the main entrance. Zeke looked down at me and I gave him a weak smile. He returned it before stepping out into the warmth.

A police officer jogged over to us when he saw the two of us coming out of the school building. Ambulances were everywhere and students and teachers were getting medical attention. I saw bodies covered up on the ground and I choked back a sob when I realized how many people died.

"Are you alright?" The police officer asked us with concern laced in his voice. He eyed Zeke's bleeding arm and my messed up face.

Zeke nodded. "Yeah, she just needs to get her nose checked. It may be broken." He told him.

The police officer lead us over to one of the people from an ambulance. The back of it was opened. We both sat down. The lady had blonde hair that was tied up into a ponytail. She slid a pair of latex gloves over her hands before gently touching my nose.

"Does it hurt?" she asked me. I winced slightly at the touch. Hell yeah it hurts!

"No." I lied. Out of the corner of my eyes I can see Zeke staring at me with a lopsided grin. A blush creeped onto my cheeks. "But you should really be checking him. He got shot in the arm. I'm fine."

Zeke frowned at me while I gave him a toothy grin. The lady moved over to Zeke and began unwrapping my blood-stained shirt from around his shoulder. I suddenly began to feel nauseated when I was the blood pull around the spot where the bullet is. Zeke clenched his fists and jaw and winced when the lady started dabbing some alcohol on it.

I shot my hand out to grab his. I was surprised when he allowed me to. His fingers tightened around mine. I tried to ignore the electrical feeling of his skin against mine and gave his hand a squeeze. My lips curled up into a reassuring smile. He returned it as well.

"We're going to need to take you to the hospital." she informed Zeke. He nodded. She took gauze and dressings and wrapped them around his wound. "We'll leave in 5 minutes. We just need to make sure there's no one else left in the building." She took her things and walked away.

When she walked away, Zeke and I just sat there in silence. I stared down at the ground, lightly swinging my feet since they couldn't touch the ground. "How's your nose?" Zeke's deep, baritone voice rang in my ears.

"It's okay, I guess.....How's your arm?" He was about to reply, but someone's voice catches our attention.

"VALENTINA!" My head snapped up and I saw Calla running towards us with five of Zeke's friends behind her. They all had relief flashing across their faces when they saw the two of us sitting on the back of the ambulance.

I shot up and ran towards her. She wrapped her arms around me in a tight embrace. "I was so freaking worried!" she cried into my shoulder. I rubbed her back and allowed the tears to roll down my cheeks too. "I-I heard more gunshots and I tried texting you again just to make sure it wasn't you, but you didn't reply."

Her eyes scanned my face and she frowned when she saw the bruises the were forming on my face. "What the hell happened?" she asked in horror.

I was about to open my mouth to answer, but Zeke answered for me, "She got hit in the face by a gun." Calla gasped and immediately cupped my face with her hands.

"Are you okay?" she shrieked while staring at the dry blood by my nose. I nodded and pushed her hands away from me. She stepped back and stood next to a tall guy who had blue eyes and silky raven hair. I think his name is Josh from what I've heard and he's one of Zeke's friends.
