It's my second one-shot that will most likely be a shitload better than my first one bc I was a smol bean. Can I get a hell yeah !
I wrote this in like 3 days and figured it out as I went along this is literally all just my fingers flying across the keyboard with like, no thought put into it... heh whoops
I saw a picture somewhere and saved it and that's how I got the inspiration for this story.
ISN'T IT BEAUTIFUL. I CRI😭💞 (creds to the amazing artist that made this amazing piece. it fucks me up)
For the record, I wrote the song/poem that's in the story. Hope you enjoy it!

Harry sat on the edge of his bed, breathing deeply. He and the boys had just finished their tour, so they were going out to celebrate. But the urge to change was so strong. He wished he could just change, then hop into the ocean and never be seen again.
But he had a life here- he had a family, he had millions of fans that would miss them, and he had the boys. (And Louis, but that was a whole other thing.)
So he calls up the boys separately and tells them he doesn't feel well. In response, there was a "Hope ya get over it, ya wanker" from Niall, an "Oh, sorry, mate. Get some rest and feel better" from Liam, and an "Alright, feel better" from Louis.
And okay, yeah. He wishes Louis was more caring, but this was what it was like for them now. They were close at the beginning, but then they just kind of drifted apart. Neither really know why.
His legs clenched painfully, awaiting a change from human to merman. Harry breathes deeply, strolling over to his large indoor swimming pool. It sat on the end of the gym, which was across the hall from the downstairs bathrooms. He didn't mean to brag, but he did have quite a bit of money. After all, he is an international pop star.
He strips off all his clothes and set them in a pile by the wide doors that led out to the living room. Sitting on the edge of the pool, he lifts his necklace up to his lips and kisses it gently before singing.
"I'm sorry, darling, but I've got to go away,
You can find me at the edge of the bay.
Where my tail glistens in the light,
Where the animals freely roam,
I'll be there free with them,
For this place is my new home."
He felt the pain surge through his legs for a second, but it soon turned into comfort as his tail began forming.
