I wake just as the sun is starting to set. I realize that me and Jacob had slept too long, and that everyone else had already left for the next area. I could hear the guards starting to prepare for patrols that would commence shortly after dark.
"Hey, Jake, it's starting to get late, we need to move. The guards are getting ready for patrols," I say while shaking his shoulder.
"Hmmm?... ..What??.." He rolls over and realizes how late it is. "Why didn't you wake me sooner??"
"I just woke myself. C'mon, we need to get going," I reply as I bundle my blanket and wrap my cloth wraps around my hands in case we get into trouble on the way.
He packs his things and we start to head off towards the setting sun at a half run half jogging pace. We needed to catch up with the rest of the tribe of "survivors" as we called ourselves. The rest of the tribe must have thought we would be fine seeing as we were the best fighters in the whole tribe. We normally hang back a little anyways.
The caverns that we have been traveling through for the past few days are 1000 foot tall obsidian-granite jagged walls with wet limestone dripping down the sides. They are a dark grey-black color with greenish-yellowish color drippings down the sides. They are extremely slick and very sharp.
As we are running I see a flash of something with shine and come to a halt as does Jacob behind me. "Hey what's that over there?" I point at a shiny object hidden in the rubble of recently fallen rocks.
