I'm walking along the lake close to the farm, where we get eggs, just thinking about school earlier today, when I feel a hand on my shoulder.
"Luke," I say. I dunno what to think about our previous conversation. I don't wanna break up again. I don't even wanna argue with Remy, I just want everything to go back to how it was.
"I found out that you & Noah got into trouble for stealing food from your mom," he said with a smirk.
I can't help it. I laugh & soon Luke is laughing with me.
"Look Nel, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have gotten between you & Remy's problem," Luke said.
"No, Luke. You're right. I'll apologize to her whether or not she cares," I said.
"Graduation's in a week. Scared?" Luke asked.
"A little, I guess," I confess. "But, we're going to the same college right?"
"Yup. You, me, Jack, & Noah. All together," he said.
"Does Noah have to come?" I ask, a little whiny.
"We're a team. Both of us. With them, we're a group," he says laughing.
Then he kisses me & I remember our 1st date, underneath the stars.
"No more heartbreaks. I'm not breaking up with you whether you like it or not!" Luke says trying to be serious.
"That's fine with me," I say laughing.
