I woke up. What's going on I wonder. Where am I? I am laying down on a soft bed of sand, I look up at the clear blue sky, so peaceful. I blink my eyes a few times, and look to my left and right. It seems as if I'm on a island. It's dead silent except for the crashing waves and the wind pushing up against my hands. I can smell the fresh salty ocean air. I couldn't care less how I got here, I have no friends or family, maybe this is my escape from the real world. I try to stand up and walk around a bit, but my ankle collapses, and i fall down onto my knees. The soft white sand sifts through my fingers. I breathe in the pure air through my nose, run my fingers through my platinum blonde curly hair, and just sit and relax looking into the ocean. I must be the only person in the world that could get stranded, or however i got here, just wake up on a island, having absolutely no recognition of how i got here, but I couldn't care less. For the first time, in a long time I feel peaceful. I guess i should explore a bit, as I limp my ways through the breathtaking rain forest, I realize how incredibly beautiful nature is. This place seems like paradise... little did I know. I stumble across, another coastline beach and there's mysterious writing in the sand. There must be another person here, or lots more. I crawl over to the writing which is slowly being faded away by the beaming waves. "Welcome to the island of N I HTM A R S.." some of the letters in the last word had been washed away.
"Nihtmares..." I try to make out the word "island of ... nightmares?"
I gasp as I hear a voice, it sounds like someone is talking over a speaker. The voice is extremely muffled, but it sounds like a woman, her voice is high and slightly squeaky. "Welcome to the island of nightmares, where all of your nightmares come true. Enjoy your stay because you're not leaving... ever!"
I started breathing heavily, I could hear my heart rate start to go up through the roof, and now I'm wondering what will happen. If only i knew what was going on, how many people are here, what's going to happen to me, will they kill me, will they torture me, who is running this operation, and most of all why, why me, why am I here, why is there someone mentally insane and sick enough to capture someone and put them on an island. This feels so fake, I can't remember anything about getting here, all I remember is waking up in my cramped apartment, eating breakfast as usual and getting ready and leaving, but where was I going? None of that matters anymore, I'm in so much shock i don't even know what to do. I raise my head to the beaming sun as tears slowly run down my face. I look into the forest and I notice a discrete pathway marked with quick human footprints, leading deep into the island. I must find someone else here, I have to know what's going on. I follow the footprints examining each one trying to decipher if they're all from the same person. I've been walking for about an hour now, i'm guessing, not that I know the time or the date, but a very long time. Along the pathway there is millions of trees, flowers, fresh fruit, berries, and rivers. It seems like the most beautiful place on earth, the mango is as sweet as candy and the water is so fresh. I finally reach the end of the path and i gasp in disbelief. There's monsters with bloody silver knives walking slowly towards me, I turn around and try to run away, but there's more behind me. I sprint to my left, but trip over my own feet... i forgot my ankle. What am I going to do? I hop through the forest as a massive fire comes my way, it feels like I'm in the hunger games or something. Then I realize my nightmares are starting. I better make the best of it. Because i'm here forever.
2 weeks have past. This is hell. I sit on the warm beach, In the middle of the night, too afraid to sleep. Just rocking back and fourth waiting for more torture to start. I've been stabbed, attacked by cougars, been drowned by a tsunami. This is truly my worsts nightmares happening to me. I feel the pain, but like a dream... i always wake up perfectly fine. But I remember everything. I look into the distant sea, nothing in sight but water for hundreds of kilometers.
"Hello..." i hear a muffled squeaky voice say in the distance. I immediately look to my right as i hear someone speaking. I see a young boy, probably only 10 years old, hiding his face behind the leafs on the tree.
"Hi. What's your name?" I ask as he slowly walks towards me. He sits beside me on the soft sand and doesn't say anything. "How long have you been here for?" I said. He shrugs his shoulders. He gestures me to come closer.
He puts his hand over his mouth and whispers in my ear. "I have a plan."
"why are you whispering?!" I yell. "There's no one here."
"They're watching us.." he whispers again.
"Who's they?!"
"Stop asking questions!" he exclaims. " Do you want in on the plan or not?"
"Plan for what?"
"To... escape." he says
"What?! yes! how are we going to do that." I said.
"We have to go. They're sleeping." He begins to explain the plan.
"Who's they?!" I yell!
"Shut up! If you want to get out." The boy, who's name I still don't know, runs into the forest and pulls out a wooden raft, tied together with bamboo.
"Oh my god, did you make this?" I ask
"Yes! now come on, before they notice." He runs to the ocean. Puts the raft down as I follow him.
"I hate to say it but this won't work." I tell him. "I've tried to swim away many times.
"I know. But their attack systems are shut down at night." He exclaims. "Now hurry up! we don't have much time to get out of sight. I hop onto the raft with him. As he starts to paddle I ask,
"Wait where are we going now?"
"I don't care as long as it's not here." He replies
As we get only about 100 meters away the the island I hear a voice coming on over a speaker.
"Funny you thought you could outsmart us. We are always watching. I told you that you'd be here forever. If you thought escaping would make everything better, you were wrong. Everything just got a lot worse."
We looked at each other in fear as as we get thrown into the freezing cold water with whirlpools pulling us underwater. Drowning us both.
